On my way in to work on tuesday I noticed something that I was very surprised to see. Since coming home I noticed the river's finally frozen so I thought for sure that would put an end to my eagle sightings. Surprise surprise, as I'm going through Douglastown, right by the marina, there's a mature bald eagle soaring away.
I'm really amazed as I thought for sure they'd follow the river freeze out towards the bay as the river's their primary food source. Yaayyyy for me, I may get to watch them a little longer yet. I do know the bay's not frozen over yet though as I had a client in from down there yesterday. What a weird winter. It's like the coasts have shifted. I know we got a freak storm here yesterday that hammered Chatham and Newcastle (about 9") but then as I work my way home to T'aintville, they only got a couple of inches. Go figure. Must've been another one of those crazy cyclone bomb things again.
On another note and as the title says, we have a game that's in need of relocation. It's waayyy down in an old topic and is about to drop off with any of the new posts and also has a few in between that have ended. It's a game that seems never to die and potential to live forever. It's not fair that we should kill it before it's time, is it?
It's the, "Guess the song game," and you'll now find it in this comment. Man, ya know I'm lazy when even scrolling's too much work.
'Til next time...

OK...you might not know this one, it's definately not your type of music! :) But, I'm sure you've heard it on the radio because it's been played to death! I'll put some lyrics here..
"So you don't know where you're going, and you wanna talk
And you feel like you're going where you've been before
You tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored
Nothing's really making any sense at all
Let's talk, let's talk..."

Oooh, I know this one, it's, "Coldplay," I do believe.

So, on to the next one...
"Two Tribes"
Totally 80's baby and he has only one other song that I can think of.
I'm thinkin' "Frankie Goes to Hollywood"?? I'll wait to see if I'm right..
Yep, it is. The other song Kim was thinking of is "Relax." (God, what a homo tune. :) "Two Tribes" is good, though. The video was cool.)
Your go, Liss...
Heh heh..I do remember that video, it was a wrestling match or something. Didn't somebody's ear get pulled off too? Ah..I barely remember it! :)
"Burnin' For You"..???
Yep, the video depicted Ronald Reagan and Konstantin Chernenko (Soviet leader at the time) beating each other to a bloody pulp in a filthy wrestling ring. It was controversial.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Tribes
> "Burnin' For You"
Blue Oyster Cult! (Never question Bruce Dickinson!)
Next...
"Psycho Killer"
...?
Isn't that an old Talking Heads song?? I think..but I'm not sure! :)
You are correct, sir!
Sir???
"Ocean Pearl"??
Sorry, ma'am.
>"Ocean Pearl"
54-40.
Next -
"Instanbul (Not Constantinople)"
...?
not a clue!
Yup, no clue on this end either. Hint please!?
Ok, in googling trying to move this forward I found that it could either be, "Violent Femmes," "They Might Be Giants," or "The Four Lads."
Either way, they all seem to be stemming from the original which was from, "The Four Lads," released in 1953.
Tally forth and all that rubbish...
"Picture Book"
Not sure! :)
It was a commercial...
OK.."The Kinks"...I remember that commercial now! :)
"New Girl Now" ??
An old 80's tune...
Honeymoon Suite. My first concert! (w/ Frozen Ghost @ Moncton Colliseum in...'89, I think it was...? Ah, memories.)
Next..
"I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)"
...?
Ha ha...they were my first concert too (they opened for Corey Hart at the Fredericton Aitken Center in '86). Over twenty years ago! How scary is that?
I'm guessing your song is by Motorhead..pretty sure I'm right so here's another one..
"End of the Line" ??
Traveling Wilburys!
Next...
"I've all my wisdom teeth
Two up top, two beneath
And yet I'll recognize
When my mouth says things that aren't so wise
When I sing my darling's praise
I know I'm right (or close anyways),
She's a gem upon this earth
I know to me she will return..."
...?
D'oh! Wrong damn game! I'm so confused... :)
Those lyrics are from "Comin' Back Soon (The Bereft Man's Song)" by...?
Ha ha...havin' a rough day Brian? :)
That's a song by the Crash Test Dummies!
What about,
"Hopes Go Astray" ??
I must be!
> "Hopes Go Astray"
Can't place it!
It's a Canadian band...they have quite a few songs, but I don't even think they are together anymore. One of their songs was called "Teenland"...ring any bells?
Well then, that would just have to be, "The Northern Pikes." Great, now I've got, "She ain't Pretty," stuck in my head.
"Firestarter"
The lead singer of this band freaks me out!
Not sure about that one Kim! :)
Ok, it was a band from the UK, this album was released in 1997 and they also had a hit titled, "Breathe."
It was heavy but dancey. Does that help?
How ya feelin' today Liss?
Guess what Kim...I still feel like crap! Looks like another wasted day for me. :(
Is that a song by "Prodigy"? I think they have a song called "Breathe"..just a guess!
No idea! Hopefully Melissa's right...
You got 'er Liss, take 'er away!
OK..
"Bette Davis Eyes" ??
Um...Kim Carnes, wasn't it?
Yep..now you are go! :)
I'm a go! Wheeeee!
"Midnight Blue"
...?
Wow! I forgot about that one..it's Lou Gramm. I love that tune! :)
How about "My Favorite Mistake" ?
Sheryl Crow, I believe.
Next -
"Daves I Know"
...?
Gosh..is that the song, "these are the Daves I know I know..these are the Daves I know.." ? I think it's from Kids in the Hall or something...
Kids In The Hall is correct! Go you are.
Hey..that was fast! :)
"So Far Away" ??
Dire Straits.
Next -
"One Less Set Of Footsteps"
...?
I think I'll need a hint for that one! :)
Hint: His initials are J.C.
Is it a really old song? I'm thinking of a song that Dad used to play when I was younger...but I'm still stumped! :)
Yep, it's an oldie...the guy who sang it also did catchy numbers like "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues" and "Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy)."
Jim Croce ??
That's definately Croce.
You are go Liss...
Ok..
"Tubthumping" ??
-heard it on the radio this morning..heh heh!
Chumbawamba? Or Chumbawumba? Whatever the hell that band was called. Lousy one-hit wonders... :)
Next...
"Couldn't Stand The Weather"
...?
Stevie Ray Vaughan! :)
"Peace Frog" ?
The Doors!
"Cheeseburger In Paradise"
...?
Jimmy Buffet!
"Children of the Grave" ??
That would be the Ozman himself. How about...
"Lovers In A Dangerous Time"
Well..that could be Bruce Cockburn or Barenaked Ladies! :) I love both versions of it!
"Chantilly Lace" ??
Oh boy, that's an oldie if it's the same one I'm thinking of. I believe that was, "Big Bopper?"
Yep! Your turn..
"Animal I Have Become"
I recognize it kinda..but I'm not sure!
>"Animal I Have Become"
Ya got me! Hint us up there, Kim. :)
They have a new hit, currently on the charts titled, "Pain," and they have a number in their name. Mebbe a few lyrics as well,
"I can't escape this hell
So many times i've tried
But i'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself"
Sorry Kim...it's not ringing a bell! :)
I'll take a wild guess and say...Sum 41?
Ok, last hint, the number in the name's, "Three." Does that help?
Three Days Grace?
You are go Liss...
"Sometimes A Fantasy" ??
Um...no idea!
It's from the album "Glass Houses"..the first record I ever bought! :)
Ah. Billy Joel?
Yes sir! Now, it looks like you must go! :)
Then go I will.
"Casual Viewin'"
...?
Is it by 54-40? "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon I wanna take you.." or something like that! :)
Cool..dig that tune!
"Who Will Save Your Soul"?
Um...Jewel? :)
"Foxy Lady"
...?
Jimi Hendrix? I'm pretty sure that's his song..
"I Can't Fight This Feeling"..hee hee!
I know..it's a corny song, but it was playing on the radio here! :)
REO Speedwagon!
Next...
"Source of Infection"
...?
Hmmm, isn't that a Halen song?
Yep..you're right Kim! You are go! :)
Let's try this one...
"Kiss me where it smells funny"
Ha ha...no idea! :)
Ok, since we ruined this one last night (it's, "Bloodhound Gang) playing stump the D.J. with Jody, Melanie and Darrell, I'll throw out another one...
"I Can't Dance"
Phil Collins or Genesis (not sure)!
That would be Genesis... take 'er away baby!
"Dolphins Cry" ??
That would be, "Live." As much as Darcy makes fun of them, I still love them. They makes me think of playing ball in the hallway with my South African friends when I was on the ship. Ahhh, the memories...
"True Colors (original)"
Cyndi Lauper..heh heh..makes me think of Randy from "My Name Is Earl". :)
"Rocket Queen" ?
That would be Guns 'N' Roses. We just listened to that the other night.
"Coward of the County"
That would be Kenny Rogers!
Next,
"Don't Leave Home"?
Hmmm, not sure if I know that one. Hint please...
She also sings a song called "Thank you"..
Ok, I don't recall Alanis having a track of the same title. Oooh, wasn't, "Thank You," that song by Dido?
Yep, it's "Dido"..your turn! :)
Ok, here's a song I heard on the radio...
"That old dog has chained you up alright
Give you everything you need
To live inside a twisted cage
Sleep beside an empty rage
I had a dream I was your hero "
This is not the lyrics game Kimmy! :) Ha ha! Oh well, I know it's "Damn, Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins. Haven't heard that song in a long time..
How 'bout, "Missing You" ?
John Waite (but also recently covered by Rod Stewart).
But Chris de Burgh, Tina Turner, Steve Perry, Dan Fogelberg, Jim Reeves and The Commodores also did songs called "Missing You," so I'll wait before going on... :)
Actually I was thinking of the Rod Stewart/ John Waite version, so you are go!
Ooops, I think I need to go back to bed. :)
While Kim has her nap, think about this one:
"Rock n' Roll Machine"
...?
Is that a song by Triumph?
It certainly is! Yer go!
"Pearl Necklace" ??
Soul Asylum?
ZZ Top?
It's ZZ Top..your go Brian! Guess we'll put 'er on hold till Monday!
Ok, now there's too many on hold. I wanna play...
Ok, screw you both, I'm gonna put a song out. :D
"Runaway Train"
Heh heh! :)
Soul Asylum??
OK..
"Better Man" ?
There's a few artists with that title but we were just talking about that one the other day, I do believe. Is it, "Pearl Jam?"
yep..take 'er away!
"Automatic Flowers"
Our Lady Peace?
Yup, you got 'er, you are go Liss.
Speaking of, "you are go...," I haven't seen Brian in a bit. It's too quiet!
Yep..where the heck are ya Brian? :)
OK..

Ummm, that's, "Duran Duran," isn't it?
Yep! Your turn! :)
