Well, here it is, 10min. from New Years (as I type this) and it seems like any other day. I've passed up two party invitations and strongly considered going to one of them in my jammy pants at one point. Probably a good thing I changed my mind even though I'm sure nobody would have minded. Mom, Dad and I are sitting here, awaiting our count down. I'm surprised I'm even still awake, let alone writing a post on this thing. My how times have changed. So as you may have already guessed, I didn't ask the Staples guy for a date.On a good note, Cindi decided she wanted to upload my pictures to her computer 'cause I've been snapping non-stop since Christmas morning and I must say, I got some good ones. That camera takes a fabulous picture. She didn't upload all of them and in turn left out some ones I really wanted to put on here but I'll get to them when I get home and can see them all as opposed to her picking the ones she wanted. I guess she wasn't as impressed with the hockey game pics as I was... heehee! It's hard to believe that this time two nights from now, I will be home. As fabulous of a trip this has been and great to see Cindi and the kids, I'm ready to sleep in my own bed and unpack my things. After years of travelling, living out of a suitcase has lost it's lustre. Lugging bags to and through the airports should be interesting as a few hours ago, I broke my little toe... again! I've lost count as to how many times I've broken that toe. I'm now wishing I packed more sensible shoes. There really is a recurring shoe pattern here and once again, I'd planned on wearing the shoes responsible for my winter wipe out and losing a great chance at an eagle picture in previous posts. Anybody wanna buy a pair of black Nine West boots with a 4" heel?
The hockey game went great last night. The Predators had a 5-0 shut out against the Bruins, giving Mason, their second string goalie, his 5th shut out of the season. They were even out shot 35-28. It was a bit of a sloppy game in the fact that there was lots of missed passes and dump ins. Any NHL game is better than none at all though so the whole experience itself was outstanding. I haven't seen one live in at least 12yrs. I guess I'm getting too old for hockey games too as they don't even do the wave anymore. You can't tell me that they changed the rules to accomodate the people that don't want to see fights. Every time one started to break out (broken up pretty quick, mind you) the fans were yelling for blood, almost as loud as when we got a goal. Bah to the new rules, I say. If ya can't play the Canadian game the way it's meant to be played, start your own dang league. Tootoo, our Canadian player from Nunuvit showed them how it was played though. He's a scrapper but he can hold his own with a stick and puck too, I'll tell ya. He was one of the three stars with lots of assists.
We also had a little bit of a scare after the game. Of course, the game lets out and immediately you have just under 17,000 people hitting the streets. We were all together 'til just before our parking lot. I'm loading in the van and do a final head count. Somehow we lost Mom! Now, anyone who knows my Mom knows that she's the worst possible person to have lost, wandering the streets of Nashville with that many people loose, not to mention drunks, druggies, crazies and homeless! Needless to say, I lost it! Now bawling, I somehow managed to keep it composed enough to formulate a gameplan, found her then gathered the rest. I thought I was holding it together pretty good but I noticed a few people muttering things like, "She's crying." We can laugh about it now but last night, it was no laughing matter. That could have turned in to a really bad situation in no time flat!
When we got out of our pre-game dinner, it was starting to drizzle and by the time we got out of the game, it was a deluge. That kind of put a damper (pardon the pun) on any downtown wandering festivities so we didn't get to Coyote Ugly which I was a little sad about at first. But after losing Mom, it was forgotten pretty quickly.
Amazing, for someone who posted just yesterday, I can still find this much to babble about. Enough babbling and on to the pictures.
I'll try to keep these in order as they happened. The next few are of the limo bus tour we took to look at the Christmas lights. This is me sitting in the back, taking a picture looking towards the front.
The only pictures we really got that night were of George Jones estate and lights and another place that wasn't a star(I don't think but hey, it's country) but still really nice. This picture's is at George's. That's his house waaayyyy back there!
This was the gate to his house. Must be rough, eh?
Anybody remember that song of his, "I don't need your rockin' chair?" Well, that was the reason for this and it was the biggest rocking chair I've ever seen in my life. I felt like I was in an episode of, "Big Comfy Couch." That's Mom, Cindi, Cole, Ashley and Dad.
I have no idea who's place this was but it was beautiful, huge and amazingly decorated. Notice the Charlie Brown Christmas in the foreground? Man, why didn't I bring my new tripod?
Now, on to last night. While wandering looking for somewhere to eat, the signs caught me eye. These are just a few of the ones that I took. I love night shots and thought these turned out really well considering once again, I left my new tripod home. I even tripped over a sign 'cause I was too busy looking up. Ooopssy!
This is the, "Wildhorse Saloon." Most of you should have heard of this, even if you're like myself and not a country music fan.
Where I was hoping to go after the game. You may recognise the name from the movie, "Coyote Ugly," which it's loosely based on. It's much wilder than the movie though. They're dancing on the bar, bartenders and patrons alike, bras are hanging everywhere and the bartenders are half dressed. My first time in there, 10 of them got up on the bar doing a line dance kind of thing, crawling and slamming their fists on the bar to a Linkin Park song. Highly entertaining.
This is where we ate. Had a divine beer battered fish and chips that was to die for.
Now, this picture's taken on Broadway which for anyone who's a country fan, this is the place to be in Nashville. Many stars were discovered up and down this drag, particularly at Tootsies (the purple place) where the likes of Willie Nelson, (passed out in the back alley there) Waylon Jennings and even Terry Clark took a turn waitressing there. I owe those bits of trivia to Mom as I wouldn't have had a clue.
Gaylord Entertainment Center... home of the Nashville Predators. I really like the architectural design of this place. Man, it's massive!
In to the game we go. We were literally in the nosebleed section but center ice and I was quite impressed with the seats. I think we got one of the last few seats in the building. If you look very closely, I'm actually above the jumbotron. This picture's of the anthem.
They even played the Stompin Tom song. I was so impressed! I was on a search for the smoking section when it came on. I was all by myself, singing and clapping. I'm sure everyone thought I was a nutcase but I didn't care. Stompin' Tom playing at a TN hockey game, how cool is that?
Last but not least, me enjoying the game. Nobody could figure out what I wanted them to do to take the picture so I took it myself. That's pretty bad when that's the only way you can get a picture of yourself on your own camera. I'm gonna try Matt and Liss' trick to get this up for my profile pic too.
All in all, it's been a great trip so far. I definately won't be getting any posts in tomorrow and will be lucky to even get to play the game. I got a lot of last minute visits I've got to get in, not to mention trying to figure out how to pack all the new stuff that I'll be bringing home. Can't wait to try out all my new hair stuff too. 4:30am. will come waayyyy too early tuesday morning, I'm afraid.
Check out the comments section for the latest fun and I'll be seeing everyone in a few days.
'Til next time...

This is a game that Liss came up with and it sounds like fun so lets give 'er a go.
Rule: The poster throws out lyrics to a song and the next person has to guess it. Same as the movie quotes game, wait to find out if you're right before throwing out the next set o' lyrics. It's another one you'll have to keep up with quite often.
Watching TV at what's now almost 3am., this song's in my head...
"Whatch gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"
Thought I'd start it with an easy one.
Have fun!
Great post Kim! Nice to finally see some pictures! :) Looks like you're having a great trip...awesome stuff!
So..I take it while you were watching TV, you may have been taking in an episode of "Cops"..ha ha! "Bad Boy, Bad Boy...whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"
I'll throw one out here..although I know not to expect any reply for quite some time! :)
"Wanna tell you a story
'Bout a woman I know
When it comes to lovin'
Oh she steals the show..."
It's another easy one! :)
You must have made that post for me, it's AC/DC... great one. Good game idea, I hope I can keep up. Now that I'll be working starting tomorrow, don't expect any replies right away.
I forgot to put some lyrics up... here goes.
Hey I’m your life
I’m the one who takes you there
Hey I’m your life
I’m the one who cares
Ps. Kim, Mason now has 4 shutouts not 5. Just letting you know.
Yeah, I thought it was his 4th too Matt but they said his 5th at the game when he got first star. Man, he deserved it too! Then again, they also said Tootoo got a goal when they later figured out it was deflected by someone else and was actually an assist. Who knows... he got third star though anyways which was still cool.
Now, as for the song, I have no idea. Feel free to play without me as I'm going to be in airports tomorrow and not sure if we'll even make it home tomorrow night. According to the weather network, it's freezing rain/snow at home and primarily freezing rain in Presque Isle.
I'm packed and getting up in 2.5hrs. Good thing I can sleep on planes.
KIM! Shame on you..ha ha! That song is "Sad But True", by Metallica.
Watch the roads..they are very icy! See ya soon!
Matt, you'll be even with the rest of us now (working)..ha ha!
Here's another one, even though you didn't "name" the song. It's "Whole Lotta Rosie" BTW..
"Stare in the morning shroud and then the day began
I tilted your cloud, you tilted my hand
Rain falls in real time and rain fell through the night
No dress rehearsal, this is our life"
Hey, Happy New Year folks! Hope everybody had a good one.
>"Stare in the morning shroud and then the day began
I tilted your cloud, you tilted my hand
Rain falls in real time and rain fell through the night
No dress rehearsal, this is our life"
No idea!
Happy New Year to you too!
This song is by one of my favorite bands (they played with the Stones in Moncton..)..it's the opening lines of the song.
The Tragically Hip, I assume...can't place the tune, though...
Yeah...I'll just say it so we can move things along.."Ahead by a Century". Drive 'er!
OK!
"I'm gonna throw my grass out the window
Crumple up my papers, too
Give away my speed 'cause baby all I'll ever need
Is just a little bit of love from you..."
...?
That song sounds really familiar to me...I don't know the name of it, but I remember hearing it before. I think Dr. Hook sings it??? Not sure though...
Dr. Hook is right. "Makin' It Natural." You go...
Cool!
"Up and down that road in our worn out shoes
Talkin' 'bout good things and singin' the blues
You went your way....I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter of time.." ??
Stevie Ray Vaughan, "Life By The Drop."
How's about...
"Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared,
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared,
Saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...and they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand
She had become like they are
Come on baby..."
...?
"Don't Fear the Reaper"..needs more cowbell!!! LOL
How 'bout this one?
"Baby, I got your number
Oh, and I know that you got mine
You know that I called you, I called too many times
You can call me, baby, you can call me anytime
You've got to call me"
Um..."Call Me" by Blondie...?
Nope...it's a bit more "bluesy", and more recent, but it is by a female! :)
Um...without another hint, I have no idea :)
OK..here's a real easy hint..she sings "Fast Car".
Ah. Is it "Give Me One Reason" by Tracy Chapman?
Yep...that's the one! Go for it!
Well, alrighty then!
Sometimes we'd travel
Right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison
Down by Adrie Hill.
Where the air smelled like snakes
We'd shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles
Was all we would kill.
Then the coal company came
With the world's largest shovel
And they tortured the timber
And stripped all the land.
Well, they dug for their coal
'Til the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down
As the progress of man.
...?
Woo hoo! I know this one...it's "Muhlenberg County" by John Prine. Great tune!
Here's another one,
"Seventeen has turned thirty-five
I'm suprised that we're still livin'
If we've done any wrong
I hope that we're forgiven
Got a few kids of my own
And some days I still don't know what to do..
I hope that they're not laughin' too loud,
When they hear me talkin'
Like this to you.." ????
John Cougar Mellencamp, "Cherry Bomb."
Btw, the Prine tune is actually called "Paradise." The judges will give it to ya, though. :)
Next...
"Way down south where the mangroves grow
Deep in the swamp down in the Bayou
There's a little story that's never been told
About a pretty widow who never grows old
And how she buried her soul with her wedding ring
Traded it off for that..."
...?
Damn..you know what's funny? I always call that song by the wrong name! Ha Ha! At least you knew which one I meant.
Now the next one is a show I missed (and everyone else missed because of me..I should add) this past Canada Day. It's Colin James, "Voodoo Thing". :)
Here's another one...
"Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight.
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off of it.
Ah, you reach down, between my legs,
ease the seat back.
She's blinding, I'm flying,
Right behind the rear-view mirror now.
Got the feeling, power steering,
Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now! "
???
I do believe that would be, "Van Halen - Panama," right?
On to the next one...
"It's Christmastime,
there's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime,
we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty
we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world
at Christmastime"
Hmm...it's a Christmas song. :) No idea of the title or who did it, though...
Yup, a Chrismas song, how'd ya guess Brian? Hahahahaha!
It was released in 1984. I can't say too much more without giving it away. It's not an old, traditional Christmas song, let's put it that way. ;)
Someone else! Someone else!
OK..OK..ha ha! I think it's Band Aid..remember that song, "Do they know it's Christmas"??? Pretty sure that's it!
Kim to confirm...
Kim is at work now...guess we'll have to wait awhile for that one! :)
Not with access to the weeb! Band Aid is right, Melissa. Your go.
(Hee hee. Verification word for this comment is "blokk.")
Sometimes those word verification things are so funny! I'll take your word that it's right (did ya google it?). Movin' on...
"Look In The Future,
Look In To My Eyes, And Tell Me
Everything's ..All Right
Tell Me Where We're Going,
I'm So Afraid 'Cos I Don't Know
What's Going On With My Life"
????
Ok, I royally suck at this game. Once again, I recognise it.
Sorry for leaving you guys so long on that one. We now have a new rule to be added. When person awaiting confirmation waits too long, carry on!
You were right on the Band Aid thing... good job! It's now '07, why the Christmas music already?
Need more hints people? :)
Yes, please :)
OK..he's an old rocker who has/had (not sure if it's still on) his own reality TV show. :)
Ah hah! "Dreamer" by Ozzy Osbourne. I knew those lyrics looked familiar!
Next...
Can you see your days blighted by darkness?
Is it true you beat your fists on the floor?
Stuck in a world of isolation
While the ivy grows over the door
So I open my door to my enemies
And I ask could we wipe the slate clean
But they tell me to please go and fuck myself
You know you just can't win
...?
Actually..Ozzy is correct, but the song is wrong. It was "Old L.A. Tonight". The judges will give you the point though! :)
I know the song you put down is a Pink Floyd tune (I think)..but I can't remember the name of it! Doh!
I'll give ya a hint! It is Pink Floyd, and it's from 'The Division Bell' (1994).
OK..took some time, but it's "Lost For Words". :) Thanks for the hint!
Here's another one,
"She paints her eyes as black as night, now
Pulls those shades down tight
Yeah, she gives a smile when the pain comes,
The pains gonna make everything alright..." ????
Black Crowes, "She Talks To Angels." Good one!
Next! (It's a tough one...)
There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road
That's where I'll always be
Every stop I make
I make a new friend
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again
Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down
Until tomorrow I'll just keep movin' on
Until tomorrow
Nowhere is my home
Ah-roooooooo!
...? :)
Ha ha ha! The "Littlest Hobo" theme song...is there an actual name for that song? It reminds me of this summer, Canada Day, when we all left your hotel. You were belting that out from the balcony! :)
Here's another one,
"Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well I tried to fake it, I dont mind sayin, I just cant make it.."
Holy frig Liss, where the heck did you pull that oldie out of? I haven't thought of that song in years! I remember it was a guy who sang it but the band's name was really strange and somewhat feminine which belied the band.
Hmmm, gonna need a little more time. I'm on the right track though, eh?
yep..keep thinkin'...it's an oldie! :)
Kim, you really only need the song name for this one. The band is not really that wierd of a name, actually it's shares it's name with our bordering country! :)
There's a band called "Quebec"? Never heard of 'em. :)
I'm disappointed Brian...with your variety of music taste you never heard of "Quebec"..??? They have lots of great songs..
"Excusez Moi?".."Pardon Monsieur"...just to name a few! :)
Isn't it just, "Meet in the Middle?"
Close enough Kim...ha ha! It's Sister Goldenhair by America. Your turn! :)
Haha... a sypmpathy point, I'll take 'er. Blogger's being a pain this morning, I must say.
This one should be easy...
"No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not forsee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes "
It has been really slow this morning...I think they're doing maintenance.
That's "Paint it Black"..the Stones!
Here's another one..
"Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields;
sold in a market down in New Orleans..." ???
Stones again! "Brown Sugar."
An easy one (?)...
"Well, when you're sitting back
In your rose-pink Cadillac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day
I'll be in my basement room
With a needle and a spoon
And another girl to take my pain away"
...?
Stones again ...ha ha! "Dead Flowers"
How 'bout this one...I'll stick to the theme..(hint hint)
"You're looking good baby
I love to see my baby smile
You say you love me now but
You've got another man on the side.."
??
Can't place it! I'm so ashamed...
You should be...heh heh! :)
That would be, "Fancy Man Blues."
"So if you're lonely
You know I'm here waiting for you
I'm just a crosshair
I'm just a shot away from you
And if you leave here
You leave me broken, shattered I lie
I'm just a crosshair
I'm just a shot then we can die "
You should be able to tell what that one is. Big, overplayed hit not that long ago.
It's "Take Me Out"..by Franz Ferdinand. :)
"Well, I think that there's a problem here,
My voice just don't sound right.."
??
The Tragically Hip, "Boots Or Hearts."
Next...
"I’m passing sleeping cities Fading by degrees
Not believing all I see to be so I’m flying over backyards
Country homes and ranches
Watching life between the branches below
And it’s hard to say
Who you are these days
But you run on anyway
Don’t you, baby"
...?
Oooh Oooh..I know that one! It's Tom Petty, "Saving Grace"..I really love that tune! :)
Movin' on..
"I've been down - I've been beat
I've been so tired-that I could not speak
I've been so lost that I could not see
I wanted things that were out of reach
Then I found you and you helped me through
And ya showed me what to do..."
??
Bryan Adams, "Back To You." Hee hoo.
"I was a sailor, I was born
upon the tide. And with the sea I did abide. I sailed a
schooner round the Horn to Mexico. I went aloft and furled
the mainsail in a blow. And when the yards broke off they
said that I got killed. But I am living still..."
...?
Highwayman..by the Highwaymen! :)
"Alright...
I got somethin' to say!
It's better to burn out..
Then fade away!"...????
> "Better to burn out than to fade away..."
Hmm...the only song I can think of with that lyric is by Neil Young - "My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)."
Sorry...it's not Neil Young. I'll give another hint and a few more lyrics. It's an older song, early 80's..
"Rise up! Gather round..
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up, let's go for broke..
Watch the night go up in smoke "
Talk Dirty to Me Coll!
Darcy
"Welcome to where time stands still,
No one leaves and no one will..."
hold on back it up beep, beep, beep That Def Lepard song is rock of ages, not pyromania. that was the name of the record. sorry no soup for you
Darcy
Oooh Oooh, I got that one of yours Darcy, that would be, "(Welcome Home) Sanitarium," by Metallica.
As for the whole thread police, you guys are on your own. :D I'm just gonna play the game, k?
Yup, another set of lyrics would help, eh?
"Hello me, meet the real me,
And my misfits way of life.
A dark, black past is my,
Most valued possession.
Hindsight is always 20/20,
Looking back, it's still a bit fuzzy,
Speak of mutually assured destruction,
Nice story, tell it to Reader's Digest!"
It's Megadeth, "Sweating Bullets"..
Movin' on..
"Ridin' down the highway, goin' to a show
Stop in all the by-ways, playin' rock 'n' roll
Gettin' robbed, gettin' stoned
Gettin' beat up, broken boned
Gettin' had, gettin' took
I tell you folks, it's harder than it looks "
???
It's A Long Way! To The Top! If You Wanna Rock n' Roll. (Cue bagpipes.)
Next!
Hey little girl, standing on the corner
Today's your lucky day for sure, all right
Me and my buddy we're from New York City
We got two hundred dollars, we wanna rock all night
Girl, you're lookin' at two big
spenders
Well the world don't know what me and Wayne might do
Our pa's each own one of the World Trade Centers
For a kiss and a smile I'll give mine all to you
Come on baby take a seat on the fender, it's a long night and tell me - What else were you gonna do?
Just me and you, we could...
Sha la la...
...?
It's Bruce..."Darlington County"
"Oh we stood outside together,
and we laughed like ancient friends.
Then we laid down in a field,
just where the road begins and ends.
Well I see you in the mirror,
and I watch you from a far.
My friends all think I’m crazy,
but I know the way things are.
Outside I hear voices underneath the moon,
but I’m grateful for whatever,
breaks the silence of this room.
Oh time won’t let me go,
and every night I know..."
??
Drawing a blank on that one!
OK..here's a hint, the guy who sings it also sings for Blue Rodeo... :) Oh, and it's a very slow and sad tune.
Ok, so it's by Jim Cuddy or Greg Keelor...still can't place it though! Damn.
Looks like ya get half a point again..ha ha! It's Jim Cuddy, "Pull Me Through". Take 'er away...
Technically I shouldn't because I couldn't name the song, but ah, what the hell!
"Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need
Of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land"
...?
I love that song! It's "The End" by the Doors!
Here's another,
"There's a killer on the road,
His brain is squirmin' like a toad..."
Ok, even after sitting here at the Skidd's and singing the song, I still needed help from the peanut gallery. "Rider's on the Storm," it is! That's pretty bad when you can sing all the verses but can't grab the chorus.
On to the next one...
"I'll be the girl with the long blonde hair,
And the really pale skin, if you care.
I sit in the corner of the room cross legged,
And quite filled with gloom.
I never ever like the smell in here,
It's cold and wet and reeks of beer.
The lights are turned out permanently,
That's ok, 'cause I don't want to see..."
This one's going to need a hint. It's a Canadian female artists, my favourite and one of my favourite songs of hers.
No hint needed for that one...it's "Wayne" by Chantal Kreviazuk.
Here's another...
"Fat man sitting on a little stool
Takes the money from my hand while his eyes take a walk all over you
Hands me the ticket smiles and whispers good luck
Cuddle up angel cuddle up my little dove
We'll ride down baby into this .."
????
Oooh, that's that Springsteen song but I can't remember the name of it. I'll have to get back to this.
Ok, I think I got it. It took me forever to get to the chorus again. Is it...
"Tunnel of Love?"
Or something to do with love in a tunnel...
Yep..take 'er away Kim!
Ok, on the the next one...
"Do you have the time
to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything
All at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it "
That's "Basket Case" by Greenday!
"I just want some one to say to me,
I'll always be there when you wake.
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today,
So stay with me and I'll have it made.
And I don't understand why I sleep all day,
And I start to complain that there's ..." ??
"No Rain." (Blind Melon.)
Next! Wait...gotta make sure this is the lyrics game... Ok, it is. Next!
"I got a '69 Chevy with a 396
Dooley heads and a Hurst on the floor
She's waitin' for me in the parking lot
Down by the 7-11 store
Me and my partner Sonny
We built 'er srtaight outta scratch
And we run 'er from town to town
We go for the money, no strings attached
We shut 'em up and then we shut 'em down
Yeah, we take all the action we can get
And we cover all the Northeast states
And when the strip shuts down, we run 'em in the streets
From the Fire Road to the interstate
Yeah tonight, tonight
The strip's just right
I wanna blow 'em all out of their seats
Summer's here and the time is right for..."
...?
That sounds so freakin' familiar...I just can't think of it! Brain freeze!
OK..it's still not coming to me, guess I need a hint! Damn! :)
That last line keeps making me think of that Mick Jagger/David Bowie tune, "Dancing In The Streets," but that's not it.
Yup, hint needed, me thinks.
Kim..you just jarred my memory..ha ha! I think it's "Racing in the Street"...and I'm thinkin' it might be Bruce Springsteen but I'm not totally sure! :)
Bingo! "Racing In the Streets" by Bruce (my favorite cover done by Townes Van Zandt). Nicely done.
Phew! That was a tough one!
"If I could turn the page
In time then I'd rearrange just a day or two
Close my, close my, close my eyes
But I couldn't find a way
So I'll settle for one day to believe in you.."
??
D'oh! Those lyrics look really familiar to me but I can't think of who it is...
You definately know the song...but a hint is hard without giving it away. Hmmm...maybe more lyrics,
"Although I'm not making plans
I hope that you understand there's a reason why
Close your, close your, close your eyes.."
The rest is the name of the song..
Arrrgh! Now it's even worse! I can't come up with it... dyin' ovah heah...
Wow..this is tough! The band who sings it has one of the top ten best selling records of all time (according to your list on the other post). It's a greatest hits album. Now that should do it! :)
Yep, it did! It's "Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac. Yeeesh! That was like pulling teeth. :)

"There's a crack in the mirror and a blood stain on the bed
There's a crack in the mirror and a blood stain on the bed
Oh, you were a vampire and baby, I'm the walking dead
I got the ways and means to New Orleans
I'm going down by the river where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink
And walk around
I got a lot to think about, oh yeah"
...?
That's "Bloodletting" by Concrete Blonde. That just reminded me of a song they sang called "Joey"..I used to absolutely love that song and haven't heard it in years. Gonna have to download that one! :)
Here's another (hopefully no "teeth pulling" this time..ha ha)...
"Take me now, baby, here as I am
Hold me close, try and understand
Desire is hunger is the fire I breathe
Love is a banquet on which we feed
Come on now, try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand, come under cover
They can't hurt you now..."
???
Another by Fleetwood Mac? Hint needed, I think...
It's not Fleetwood Mac this time. :) I can't give any more lyrics, that would give it away. But, I looked it up and realized the song I'm thinking of is actually a cover of the orginal which was written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen. I did not know that! :) Don't know if that will help or not..
Hmm...can only take a guess here...is it "The Hunger"? That's an old Bruce tune, but I'm not sure who's covered it...
OK..enough "teeth pulling" ...I'll just tell ya and throw out a different one. It's "Because the Night.." by 10,000 Maniacs.
Here's a different one, :)
"I am no superman
I have no reasons for you
I am no hero; oh that's for sure
But I do know one thing
Is where you are, is where I belong
I do know where you go... is where I wannna be. "
You're killing me here! Hint again, please. :)
OMG...not again! :) How many lives do you have left?
OK..some more lyrics maybe?
"Are you looking for answers
For reasons under the stars
If along the way, you are growing weary
You can rest with me until a brighter day
I am no superman, thats for sure
And I have no answers, yeah
I am no hero, oh dont you know~
But I do know one thing,
Where you are is where I belong"
If you've seen the movie "Mr. Deeds" ..it's on the soundtrack. Hope that helps! :)
Oh..feel free to Google it! :)
Thank you!
Google tells me it's "Where Are You Going" by Dave Matthews Band.
You go, I don't deserve to. :)
Ha ha...I don't think I want to! I've been throwing out one "bomb" after another...I'm dying over here! :)
OK..here's a real easy one, I promise!
"Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawing near
Shadows of the evening crawl across the years
Ya walk across the floor with a flower in your hand
Trying to tell me no one understands
Trade in your hours for a handful dimes
Gonna make it, baby, in our prime"
Now.. I know, that you know that song! Does that make sense? :)
Finally, something I recognize! :)
"Five To One," by The Doors. Yargh!
Ok, next (we'll make 'er an easy one this time, too)...
"Let's swim to the moon
Let's climb through the tide
Penetrate the evening that the city sleeps to hide
Let's swim out tonight, love
It's our turn to try
Park beside the ocean on a..."
...?
"Moonlight Drive"..the Doors! I love that song. :)
OK..I think I'll keep with the easy theme again..ha ha!
"Back in those days everything was simpler and more confused
One summer night, going to the pier
I ran into two young girls
The blonde one was called Freedom
The dark one, Enterprise
We talked and they told me this story
Now listen to this..."
??
I'll tell you about Texas Radio and The Big Beat! Soft, driven, slow and mad like some new language....reaching your head with the cold, sudden fury of a divine messenger. Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of God...wandering, wandering in hopeless night. Out here in the perimeter, there are no stars. Out here we is...
"Stoned Immaculate."
Next!
"When the forest burns along the road
Like God's eyes in my headlights
When the dogs are looking for their bones
And it's raining icepicks on your steel shore"
...?
Awww..I absolutely love that tune, it's Johnny Cash's "Rusty Cage".
My turn,
"When I look into your eyes
See the world cut down to size
Baby don't apologize
Takin' me ...."
??
"One Step Over The Line" by John Hiatt & Rosanne Cash. Hee hee.

In the heat of the day down in Mobile, Alabama
Workin' on the railroad with the steel-drivin' hammer
Gotta make some money to buy some brand new shoes
Tryin' to find somebody to take away these blues
"She don't love me" hear them singing in the sun
Payday's comin' and my work is all done
Later in the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
All day I been waitin' for the whistle to blow
Sittin' in a teepee built right on the tracks
Rollin' them bones until the foreman comes back
Pick up your belongings boys and scatter about
We got an off-schedule train comin' two miles out
Everybody's scramblin' and runnin' around
Pickin' up their money and tearin' the teepee down
Foreman wants to panic, about to go insane
Tryin' to get the workers out the way of the train
Engineer blows the whistle loud and long
Can't stop the train, gotta let it roll on
...?
That's "Let it Rock"..but I'm not sure which version you're referring to! I'm pretty sure a few different bands sing it, and I know for sure the Stones do! :)
I'll just go ahead..if I'm wrong, let me know! :)
"Let's grab the world
By the scruff of the neck
And drink it down deeply
Let's love it to death
So button your lip
And button your coat
Let's go out dancing
Let's rock 'n' roll .."
??
Yup, it's "Let It Rock" by Chuck Berry (but it's been covered a zillion times).
Last one was The Rolling Stones, "Mixed Emotions."
Next -
"Ah... caught you smiling at me, That's the way it should be,
Like a leaf is to a tree, so fine.
Ah... all the good times we had,
I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.
As we walk down the country lanes, I'll be singing a song,
Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees, Telling Mother Nature 'bout you and me..."
...?
Awesome choice!! :) It's "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp" by Led Zeppelin. Memories! :)
"Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name..."

Johnny Cash, "A Boy Named Sue."
Next -
"On the way back home we sang a song
But our throats were getting dry
Then we saw the man from across the road
With the sunshine in his eyes
Well, he lived all alone in his own little home
With a great big gallon jar
There were bottles too, one for me and you
And he said Hey! There you are"
...?
Need some help with that one! :)
Hmmm, that kinda sounds like that Van Morrison song on the Moondance album. The song before the song Moondance, actually.
Dang this memory of mine, I can't remember the name of it.
I'll have to get back to this. Can't grab the chorus and it's friggin' repetitive too... grrrr!
Oh oh..I know it! Thanks Kim! It's "It Stoned Me"..or maybe it's called "And It Stoned Me"...something like that anyway! And yes, it's a Van Morrison tune! :)
OK...
"I've got a feeling,
I've got a feeling so strong
Maybe someday our paths will cross..
A red-winged hawk is circling
The blacktop stretches out for days
How could I get so close to you
And still feel so far away?
I hear a voice come on the wind
Sayin.."

"You And I Will Meet Again." (Tom Petty.)

"Jimi's playin' in the back room
Led Zeppelin on stage
There's a mirror ball twirlin'
And a note from Page
Like a water-washed diamond
In a river of sin
Goin' down like a whirlpool
When you get sucked in..."
...?
hint please! ;)
Hmm...that was the third verse, how about the second?
"Yeah, it's right around the corner
Up and down the hill
When you hear the band playin'
It's gonna give you a chill
Give your money to the gateman
Young blood in his eye
Hold on to your baby
When you slip into the sky..."
OMG..I'm ashamed! :)
It's "Downtown"..Neil Young! :)
OK, time for another one..
"I got a freaky old lady named Cocaine Katie who embroiders on my jeans..
I got my poor old gray haired Daddy drivin my limosine..."
??
Well now, that can only be, "Cover of the Rolling Stones," by Dr. Hook. One of the few songs we can actually sing from start to finish back the camp.
"So long ago, I don't remember when
That's when they say I lost my only friend
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetery trees
"
That's the "Wallflowers", "One Headlight". Good tune!
"So you think that it's over, say your love has finally reached
the end..
Any time you call, night or day, I'll be right there for you,
If you need a friend.."
??
Tesla, "Love Song."
Next -
"Ah, we're drinking and we're dancing and the band is really happening and the Johnny Walker wisdom's running high
And my very sweet companion, she's the Angel of Compassion
She's rubbing half the world against her thigh
And every drinker every dancer
Lifts a happy face to thank her
The fiddler fiddles something so sublime
All the women tear their blouses off
And the men they dance on the polka-dots
And it's partner found, it's partner lost
And it's hell to pay when the fiddler stops
It's..."
...?
A little help! :)
The artist is Canadian. He's also a respected poet.
Leonard Cohen?
Yep!
OK..that was a guess. I don't know the name of the song, so maybe you should go again.. :)
Somebody go! I wanna play...
Ok! (It was "Closing Time," btw.)
"And as the windshield melts
And my tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend
Finally I understand the feelings of the few
Ashes and diamonds
Foe and friend
We were all equal in the end"
...?
Ah...so that was the name of it! Thanks!
Your song is "Two Suns in the Sunset" by Pink Floyd.
Next!
"When I left your house this mornin',
It was a quarter after nine.
Could have been the Willie Nelson,
Could have been the wine.."
??
Stumped!
The name of the song is a name of a constellation...and it's a song by one of my favorite bands.
Something by The Tragically Hip, maybe? Can't think of the name of it, though...
Yep..it's Bobcaygeon. Love that song! You can go ahead...you are go! :)
I just can't believe that it's over
We were chilling out on the sofa
Digging how the guitar goes
In a song that no one knows
Did you lick that line yourself
Or did the voodoo magic help?
Does everyone have a different take?
Do you seem real but I seem fake?
Does everyone get hypnotized
By your fire?
...?
I know that one..it's "So Long Jimmy", a really great tune by James Blunt! :)
Hmmm...
"Go on and close the curtains
All we need is candlelight
You and me and a bottle of wine
Going to hold you tonight
We know I'm going away
How I wish....wish it weren't so
Take this wine & drink with me
Let's delay our misery.."
??
No idea...
It was kind of a one hit wonder...I'm pretty sure it was the only "hit" he ever had. He has a strange sounding name (three words). Actually, it's hard to give a hint so I'll do it like charades..ha ha!
First word - a type of bird
Second word - a part of your face
Third word - a type of fruit with a pit inside
This was a bad choice! :)
Heehee, that would be, "Save Tonight," by Eagle Eye Cherry. I think that was his only hit, only one I can remember anyways.
"Listen as the wind blows
from across the great divide,
Voices trapped in yearning,
memories trapped in time,
The night is my companion
and solitude my guide,
Would I spend forever here
and not be satisfied?"
Oooh oooh...
"And I would be the one,
to hold you down,
kiss you so hard,
I'll take your breath away..."
heh heh, sorry couldn't resist, it's one of my all time favorite songs.."Possession" by Sarah McLaughlan.
OK..next!
"Nobody on the road,
nobody on the beach.
I feel it in the air,
the summers out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets,
the sun goes down alone.
I'm driving by your house
though I know that your not home...
And I can see you,
your brown skin shining in the sun,
you got your hair combed back,
sunglasses on baby..
And I can tell you,
my love for you will still be strong after.."
??
"After the boys of,
Summer have go-one."
Heehee, the flashbacks this game gives me are endless. I'll take, "Boys of Summer," for a thousand Alex.
"So slide over here
And give me a moment
Your moves are so raw
I've got to let you know
I've got to let you know
You're one of my kind"
"Need You Tonight" by INXS
How 'bout,
"You're the only one,
I'd be with till the end
When I come undone
You bring me back again
Back under the stars
Back into your arms
[Chorus]
Wanna know who you are
Wanna know where to start
I wanna know what this means
Wanna know how you feel
Wanna know what is real
I wanna know everything, everything ..." ???
"Fall to Pieces," by Avril Lavigne?
There is a problem..I'm not sure what it is! :)
A song Adam Sandler sang in a movie...
Ah..now I know it! It's the song "Somebody Kill Me Please" from the Wedding Singer! Doh! (Shoulda got that one right off!)
Next,
"It's been so lonely without you here,
Like a bird without a song.
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling,
Tell me baby, where did I go wrong?
I could put my arms around every boy I see,
But they'd only remind me of you.
I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me?
Guess what he told me?
He said girl u better try to have fun
No matter what you do,
But he's a fool.."
???
Ok, that's too, "Doo-doo-doo-doo," for me. I heard that song tonight and thought I should put that on here. That would be Sinead O'Connor's, "Nothing Compares 2 U," or however the heck she spells that out.
This one shouldn't be too hard. This time I mean it... ;)
"Woke up in the morning.
Put on my new plastic glove.
Served some re-heated salsbury steak
With a little slice of love.
Got no clue what the chicken pot pie
Is made of.
Just know everything's doing fine
Down here in ..."
Lunchlady Land...by Adam Sandler! :)
Ummm..hard to think of one so I'll go by what's playing on the radio here again..
"Someone told me long ago,
there's a calm before the storm
I know; it's been comin' for some time.."
?
Hmmm, kinda soundin' familiar but me thinks I'm gonna need some more lyrics or sumthin'...
Ok..here's a few more lyrics..
"When its over, so they say,
it'll rain on a sunny day,
I know; shinin' down like water."
Kim, you must know this song! I know you do! :)
Oh frig, I knew it sounded familiar. "Have you ever seen the rain," by John Fogarty, wasn't it? We only need the song anyways, right? I'll carry on then.
A song that used to give me the heebie jeebies...
"I'm in the dark, I'd like to read his mind
But I'm frightened of the things I might find
Oh, there must be something he's thinking of
To tear him away
When I tell him that I'm falling in love
Why does he say"
Actually it was CCR, and Rod Stewart does a cover of it now too, which is what I was hearing on the radio. :)
Your song is "Voices Carry", by 'Til Tuesday. That is one freaky song!
Next,
"When the colour of the night
and all the smoke for one life
gives way to shakey movements,
improvisational skills,
a forest of whispering speakers
let's swear that we will
get with the times,
in a current heath to stay
let's get friendship right
get life day-to-day.." ???
No idea!
That's that Hip song that I can never remember exactly what it's called, "It's a good life if you don't weaken," or something like that.
Is that close enough? I await official word. Must remember this is the lyric game.
Yes, you're right on the money! Your go! :)
Woohoo, she finally remembers the name of it. This next one should be an easy one. I still remember Lloyd Cameron doing a very moving skit to it in Theatre Arts class, oh so many years ago. Kind of eerie, considering what he did to himself not that long ago...
"Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision
That was planted in my brain
Still remains"
"The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel...
I remember Lloyd. He caught me defacing school property once. :)
Next!
"I swear I recognize your breath
Memories like fingerprints are slowly raising
Me, you wouldn't recall
For I'm not my former
It's hard when you're stuck upon the shelf
I changed by not changing at all, Small town predicts my fate
Perhaps that's what no one wants to see
And I just want to scream...hello..."
...?
Isn't that a Pearl Jam song? It sounds familiar..
Yep it is, but what's it called?? (Hint - It's a slow number from their second album.)
Ah..that's the hard part. I know it has a really long name, and I can't remember it for the life of me! Something about a woman behind a counter? Damn! I forget!
Ah, you're close enough. It's called "Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town."
Go right ahead...
Wow! No freakin' wonder I couldn't remember the name of it!:)
I'll go on ahead then..
"Here you stand before me
Waiting to be kissed
You're a beauty, such a cutie
How could I resist?
It's been a month of Sundays
Since we last had spoke
So much water, you get dollars
I fell out of the boat .."
???
"Oh No Not You Again," I think it's called, by the Stones?
Yep..you are go! :)
This one should be easy,
"I can't remember anything.
Can't tell if this is true,
Or a dream.
Deep down inside,
I feel the scream.
This terrible silence stops me!"
That's "One" by Metallica. How could I ever forget that song..it's been drilled in my brain over and over again! :)
"Too scared to turn your light out
'Cos there's something on your mind
Was that a noise outside your window?
What's that shadow on the blind?
As you lie there naked
Like a body in a tomb
Suspended animation
As I slip into your room..."
???
Now that sounds familiar but I can't quite grab it. More please...? :D
Okay..
"Somewhere a clock strikes midnight
And there's a full moon in the sky
You hear a dog bark in the distance
You hear someone's baby cry
A rat runs down the alley
And a chill runs down your spine
And someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine
Cause no one's gonna warn you
And no one's gonna yell attack
And you don't feel the steel
Till it's hangin' out your back.."
??
Crap, that's Night Prowler. Shoulda had it the first time.
"When I was young I knew everything
She a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken, sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice
I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place"
To be found in new entry, "I Don't Wanna Grow Up."
See ya there...
