This is day who knows what of vacation (4 or 5) and I think it's thursday. The joys of vacation and not having to worry about what day it is. Hopefully we'll figure it out by the time we need to catch a plane home. I fear it's only going to get worse.
We've had the kids home with us for the last two days and so far so good, they're still alive, fed, clean and entertained. Guess I haven't lost my touch. The routine's coming back faster than I expected. It's really nice to not feel obligated to be the Molly Maid but some habits are hard to break, particularly when your sister's a slob.
She's not going to have to worry about her pack rat ways for much longer though as she told us some great news the other day. Her new boyfriend (not so new now, about 2yrs.) is soon to be her husband and they're buying a beautiful new home in a neighbourhood not too far from here. They'll be eloping to somewhere warm and getting married on the beach, most likely. I really like her new husband to be (also a Steve which is really strange) and the kids love him (and vice versa) which is the most important. Mom and Dad will finally get to meet him over the holidays which is awesome as we never got to meet her ex until she was already married and it was too late. I never liked that guy. Another marriage and another chance for me not to be a maid of honour. Ah well!
Christmas shopping's going swimmingly well considering it's only a few days a way. Heck, there was no way I was going to be lugging all the stuff with me. It'd be just the time my luggage got lost particularly with how my luck has been going lately.
I've been getting caught up with lots of old friends with drop ins so not even having to run the roads. Plus getting to spend lots of time with my buddies Cathy and Jim across the street. We always manage to have lots of fun and endless laughs. No set date for when we're going to go to the Double E (biker bar I love down the road) or Coyote Ugly but I will persevere. We also want to go to the Opryland Hotel which is always incredibly decorated for Christmas and they're supposed to have changed alot this year so it'll be a great way to kick the mood in to gear. It's really hard getting in to Christmas when there's no snow on the ground and temperatures anywhere between 15-20 degrees. The kids are extremely excited so that's helping immensely.
Now, this comment suggestion's going to be dedicated to games but in a different sense. I'm hearing mention of a movie trivia game and a few other things. Liss mentioned one in one of the comments but do you think I can find it now? I'm at a bit of a brain freeze for new ideas so what I'd like you guys to do is leave a comment on what you'd like to see, how to do it and rules, if any. Matt had mentioned something about a 2 round limit which is probably good for most but if you look at the games like song or movie titles, they should be endless so we can always adjust that accordingly and make that part of the rules. Movie trivia I'd think could be endless. A big rule I would like to add and I know I've only been using it if we're absolutely stuck, (like the now finally dead slash pusher) is the google. It just makes it more fair that way. So please, feel free to throw out any ideas that you have and we'll go from here, k?
Please leave suggestions for different games we can use for future posts and we'll continue the games in the next post.
Now, it's time I got my butt in the shower as Cindi left Dad and I the van today and Dad's looking to run the roads which estimated time of departure is, "Less than an hour by alot," - Scott. It's been a long time since I ran these road, here's hoping I can remember where everything is. Geez this place is growing in leaps and bounds. All part of that being only 20min. East of Nashville. The burbs are no longer the burbs.
'Til next time...

Hey Kim,
Ok... here's the new game. Everyone says a quote from a movie, any movie... and people have to guess it. Feel free to use google to get the quotes if you can't remember them exactly, but don't use it to figure them out.
Here goes... the first one of the new game. Lets see who gets it.
"I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science."
Woah woah woah there Mr. Takeover. I want to get an idea of a bunch of different games in here first before we jump in to the next game. That way we can use this as future reference for other posts and future games to go with them.
Not just movie games... all suggestions welcome please. Don't forget the idea of the rules as well as a round limit. The movie one could be pretty much endless though. I'll let you start it with that one when we do get it going, k Matt?
Geez, does anybody even read my posts? ;)
I do!
I would suggest that, for a movie trivia-type game, the questions that are posted could be on whatever area you choose: quotes (as Matt suggested), titles, cast members, storylines, any kind of question you want...as long as it sticks with the theme. (But please, no more alphabetical stuff! :) Whoever poses the question should confirm if the answer is correct before the next one gets put out (by whomever got it right).
This type of game should have no round limitations, it could go on indefinitely.
Again, just my 2 pesos. :)
Oh and, as Matt said, we should all subscribe to The Honor System. If you don't know the answer, don't Google it just so you can enter the next one. That's like looking up a word in the dictionary before making a move in Scrabble.
(When a hospital patient gets out of hand, you quone 'em!)
Wow..you guys are gettin' into the nitty gritty now! Ha ha! This is "serious business"!
I agree with everything so far! I like the movie ideas..but with lots of different stuff (like Brian said). I agree no more alphabetical crap, and no more googling! But we could do other things besides movies, like music trivia, TV shows...my brain is kinda fried right now so I can't think!
I think the biggest problem we'll have is waiting for the person who asks the original question to verify if the answer is right. We'll need to have a bit more patience! :)
Anyway, glad things are going well for ya Kim! I miss ya lots! Oh, and I feel the need to answer Matt's quote, it's "Anchorman"..ha ha! Keep the ideas flowing guys!
I agree wholeheartedly Brian, unlimited possibilities. And if it's going to be just movie related, as opposed to just quotes, the poster can let someone know what they're looking for. Oh I'm done with the alphabetical stuff, believe me. That's why I wanted to pick your guys brains.
It doesn't have to be just movies though. We could do some kind of music trivia, etc.
The next post though, we'll start with the movie trivia idea. That's a good one and seems to be in popular demand. Good job Matt, you can take 'er away once we get the details hashed out here, k?
Anything you can come up with guys. Let's put our brains together.
Yup, I had that in my post too, about the googling. I'm really starting to wonder if anybody even reads this anymore or just heads to the comments.
Am I too babbly? Do I not make any sense? You guys are starting to make me paranoid now.
Oh yeah, that's why I did alphabetical. With online games (have been doing them for years) is it's almost impossible to wait for the response (right or wrong) before carrying on.
With the alphabet, you throw out your answer and wait for the next one to come along, whenever that may be.
The good thing is though is that it's mainly just us and we're here almost every day so we should be able to do it. We all seem to slack off on the weekends so we might have to check in a little more then. Or if you're going to be occupied on the weekend, don't put out a question late on friday.
Other than that, great job so far and I'm really glad I'm getting some input.
Thanks for the help and for playing. It's fun! :D
Hey Kim..
You're not babbly, and yes we read your blog. I was just "agreeing" with your googling comment. I was thinkin' if you wanted to start up a simple one, to go along with the more complex trivia ones...and we want to avoid alphabetical, (I know this is a run-on sentence)..phew, we could do one where somebody writes a word and the next person writes the first word that comes to their mind. You know what I mean? Like one of those psychology tests...
Anyway, now look who's babbling! Just a thought..
Ah, word association. The game of no wrong answers!
And if Kim could update her blog settings so that the comment windows could be enlarged and/or full-screened, then we'd really be getting somewhere! :)
Yep...I agree! Get to work Kim! Ha ha! And thank you...word association was what I was trying to say..told ya's my brain is fried! :)
Boiled
Egg....ha ha! I thought we weren't supposed to start a game on here yet? :)
Just warming up :)
OK...but I think that'll be a fun one, no real thought processes! :)
Wow, I was just looking to have fun here... now there's WAY to much reading going on. Great guess Liss... you got it right. Anchorman was the answer. I guess I'm not allowed to post another one then?
OMG, any psychologist would have a field day with us doing word associations. I'd almost be afraid.
I think it'd be a good laugh..and I think you should start it in a new post! hint ..hint.. :)
Liss had this idea and I want to add it here so I don't forget it as word association's the next on the agenda.
Putting out song lyrics and the person has to guess what song it is.
Good one Liss!
Since we have no feedback from Matt and Brian...I say let's go with it! Ha ha!
Oh I was going with it baby. Just putting it in here so I didn't forget it. You know my memory.
I'm about to send out a search party for Brian, me thinks!
I'm right here!
Hey Brian, I knew you'd be back. Missed you! Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.
Oh, I have a great idea! You could update your blog and tell us all about it... hint-hint! ;)
I'm workin' on it! (Niagara Falls is cool, I got some great photos... :)
Niagara is beautiful. Can't wait to see the update and hear the story.
Yes...some people are really slacking in the blog department! :)
Who, me? :)
Well...I'm not pointing any fingers! :)
Yeah, even Matt did his and he started a new job. :D
Boy, I can just imagine the pictures now...!
I got a fair amount done tonight! It's now 1am though, gotta hit the sack. I hope to post on Monday night when I get back after the weekend. Patience, kiddies! :)
We'll be waiting... :)
Good job Brian, good job! :)
