Penises, Birds And Adopted Family Shopping...

Well what a weekend! It never ceases to amaze me how much entertainment one can cram in a two day period on the 'Chi. This weekend was crammed in to 24hrs. I literally finally crashed last evening and barely stirred 'til this am. I think my body was trying to tell me something. I'm gonna need those two weeks in Tennessee just to recupe from the month of december, particularly with how busy it has been at work. One more week to go!

After a long day of work on saturday I had 1.5hrs. to come home, eat, wrap, get ready then off to pick up Kelly to head up to Darla's engagement/bachelorette party. Hey, she's trying to do this in 3wks. so we have to combine events by this point. Shopping for this event was very interesting as I was on a mission and I'll tell you, shopping on this river really leaves something to be desired. Who would have thought that finding a wedding guest book would be so challenging. I did manage to find one however so that was the engagement thing. But there had to be naughty as well as nice, right? Being that we have so much lingerie selection on the river, (insert sarcasm here) believe it or not, I found a lovely little teddy number for her at Zellers. It gets really tough shopping around here as I try to keep it on the river. Now if we could only do something about the selection maybe everyone wouldn't leave to shop in Moncton!

Kelly and I knew the street we had to go to (by Newcastle Tim Horton's) but not the specific address as the houses weren't marked. We just figured we'd look for the cars, forgetting that there was a Timberwolves game on the same night! We ditched the car in the vicinity of and started walking. We eventually found it (thanks to a cat and an obliging neighbour), found Sonia and Brenda along the way and we were off. It was a fabulous time as it was a collection of old and new Glamour Girls and I'll tell ya, we always knew how to have a good time. I got to meet the new blood there and even got to see Sonia and Brenda whom I haven't seen in years. Everyone was worried we'd be late (it was at 7pm. and was now pushing 8pm.) but they seemed to forget that this was a party for Darla... she showed up at 8:30pm. :D Also, the Glamour Girls were infamous for being late. The party never started 'til we got there.
I just went through all my pictures of the evening and it's going to be hard to decide which ones to put in as they're all hilarious, even if you don't know these people. Dawn has to be the best bachelorette party thrower I've ever seen and I don't think I've ever seen a future bride get picked on as bad as Darla did but she hadled it like the trooper she is. I couldln't help but laugh when she made the comment, "I always used to hate these things and never wanted one done for me!" She had a great time. I think the Fireball really helped ease the pain though.
Darla came in dressed to kill which surprised me, did she really think she wouldn't get a new wardrobe? She's even re-arranging her new penis like most men do on a regular basis.

Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea, Darla's not a Ho but the girls found this cute Bachelorette poem and re-arranged it accordingly...
A picture with her penis cake...
The arrival of her, "Penisata," the look on her face (not to mention Libby's) says it all. What a great idea for anyone looking for a different idea for a bachelorette party. Dawn made it with papier mache. That's Dawn with her creation. She hung it off her ceiling fan. Don't worry, no ceiling fans were harmed in the smashing of the penisata...

The, "Penisata," in all it's glory...
Another couple of pictures that totally sum up the moment. "I need another drink," "Penis bashing," and, "The Fallout." Who said penis envy's lost...

The evening also progressed in another very surprising way. It seems that Dawn and I may have been separated at birth. Darla has talked about her lots, mentioning she's, "One of us." It's rare that you can find female friends in today's world. They're a catty lot and would claw your eyes out as quick as they look at you for the most part and if they're not able to look at you, they're stabbing you in the back. I feel very lucky to have some normal, not overly estrogeny females as friends. Dawn being the latest addition.

I'd heard that she was in to birds (primarily parrots) but had forgotten all about it. I was sitting there yik yakking when all of a sudden this loud screech pierces the air. Needless to say, I then remembered. It was really cool as she's not one of those people that sticks them in cages and shoves them in a corner. When her daughter moved out, she converted a whole room for them. It was really hard to get a picture of said room as the lighting wasn't the best for my camera but it was filled with big rope nets, lotsa hangy play toys and three parrots. One of which was a beautiful Macaw named Sydney, you'll see her in later pictures. She also had a parrot named Casper who loves to have his picture taken and as soon as he saw my flash, was instantly in my face. He also got a hold of my lens and smeared it so excuse the bluriness of the following pictures. The downfalls of macro, heehee.

The bird room, that's Sydney in the back...

Up close and personal with Casper...

Here's Sydney in all her glory. It's truly amazing how gentle she can be with her beak around your face, considering she could break a finger with it. She's like me, distracted by shiny and pretty and loved my nose ring while perched on my shoulder...

Dawn now has 7 parrots in total. As of about a month ago, she rescued a breeding pair of macaws (a different kind than Sydney and even bigger again) that were badly neglected. They arrived with all their feathers pulled out. It's pretty sad to think that someone could let an animal get to that state, thinking it's ok. This was not an overnight occurence. They both arrived in a single rubbermaid container with airholes punched in the top. The human race absolutely sickens me by times. She didn't think they'd live through the first night. One month later, they're starting to regrow their feathers, produced two eggs and are still going strong. I would have gotten pictures of them but they're still very reclusive to everyone else but Dawn. She's quite exceptional with them.

It was funny 'cause it's another case of not being able to go anywhere for any length of time without a responsible sitter. Being Kelly's official barn sitter, she mentioned to Dawn that I could do the chore. I suppose if I can handle 7 - 1000lb.+ horses, I could manage 7 parrots, right? They asked me what I'd do with them all? I laughed because I can see it now. There's three of them now that already get along really well in the bird room. I'd be camped out on the couch with one on my head, one on my toe and another one at some point in between. Now wouldln't that be a picture?

Apparently mornings are quite the event in her house. One wakes up singing opera while another likes to make the sound of her doorbell. That's just a few of the many sounds, as you can imagine. Top that off with a cat that screams like a kid and you got a regular zoo. Yeah right, screams like a kid you say. If I hadn't heard it with my own ears, I wouldn't have believed it either. It was that cat that helped Kelly and I find the place as he was climbing up on his neighbours step when I heard him. I was looking for a kid too... very strange indeed!

It was also a great weekend in the sense that I got to get the shopping done for our adopted family. Surprise, surprise... have I not learned to stop organising things? Apparently not, as it started out as being three shoppers but after new boyfriends intervening and the other losing one, I was on my own. I tossed around the idea of still going to Moncton as one of the girls was going anyways and thought that it'd make for a fun adventure but since I was now on my own and like to keep my shopping local, that got nixxed.

As I was pulling up to Tim Horton's (yeah yeah, can't shop without it) I pulled up behind Ashley at the lights. Her plans had changed as well so we teamed up and hit Wal-Mart. They didn't seem too obliging to give us a discount as I'd heard they would be but I'm going back today to speak with the manager. Hey, we dropped dang near $250 dollars there and it's for a good cause.

There were a lot of things the family needed (17yr. old girl w/ 1mth. old baby) and it sounds like the girl's trying to move out on her own. She's from a very rough family and it's remarkable she turned out as well as she did. I got to get a little more details on her as her Interventionist was in for a hair-do on saturday and of course, you go through the, "Where do you work," thing and it turns out she deals with our family. I wish I had the chance to do her but I was booked but Ashley did and she was beside me so I still got to pick her brain a bit.

So needless to say, a 17yr. old girl trying to get her own place... she needed everything. We got her pots and pans, dish set, utensil set, glasses, etc. It's very tough buying for a 1 mth. old baby as there's really nothing you can get them for toys so we got necessities like formula, diapers, pj's, socks and the one thing she asked for which was $60 alone was an activity play center, jumper kind of thing. It was worth it though 'cause I know if I was a baby, that's exactly where I'd want to be! So all that stuff plus things like boots and a winter coat for the Mom, our money didn't get to go as far as I'd hoped. I'd still like to get baby bottle stuff, bedding and towels... I'm going to have to do more fund raising. It gets extremely hard when you have to budget and pick what's needed most for a family who needs absolutely everything. Good thing they weren't looking for, "Any Pacific Brand," - Darcy. As for the wrapping, the girls will soon find themselves wrapping at our Christmas party next weekend even though most don't know it yet. I literally shopped 'til I dropped. Any wonder I slept for as long as I did.

Here's a picture of Ashley with all the goodies. Man, we make a good team. I can't believe we managed to get all that we did get! We had two carts full and that was at Wal-mart alone. My trunk and backseat were full! :D

Looks like I'm still going to have to clean my lens too as that one even still looks a little blurry. I guess I can be thankful that I still have my lens, considering the beaks on those birds.

Hope everyone had a fabulous week. Make sure you check out this entry's comments as there's going to be a new game to play in there as well.

'Til next time...

For this game, I thought we'd be ready for something a bit more challenging. To give you an idea though, I'll start off with something easy.

This one will consist of naming a song. The next person has to name who sings that song and put out the name for the next song. This should go over well since we're all music lovers.

The only rules are, if it's too difficult, feel free to give a hint.

This one should be easy but I'll give you a hint anyways...

"Liquor and Whores"

hint - a campfire favourite of ours.

Now, tell me who sings it and throw out the next one.

Get it?

Liss said...

OK..that one is just way too easy though! :) No hints needed there..

"Liquor and Whores"..sung by Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys.

Next song.."Come Away With Me"

hint- a very slow song, one of my favorites.

Kim, I must say that is quite the post..freakin' hilarious! I kinda remember you showing me those pics on Sun. morning, but it's a little blurry (I wasn't completely awake yet..ha ha!)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

heehee, I should have gotten a picture of you sunday morning, now that definately would have been blog worthy. ;)

That would be by one of your favourite artists, "Norah Jones," I do believe.

"The Sickness"

hint - also an album and the theme song for the remake of the movie, "Dawn of the Dead."

Liss said...

A picture of me on Sunday morning would have been a catastrophe..nothing blog worthy there! :)

I believe that song is by "Disturbed"...correct me if I'm wrong!

Now onto another one,
"Me and My Wine"

An oldie!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Darcy actually guessed this one so I'll put it out for him and he can take the score.

It's Def Leppard. Now, if I were Darcy, what would I put...

"Rough Justice"

That one shouldn't need a hint. ;)

Madpajamma said...

That's easy, The Rolling Stones.

Try this one.

"Santeria"

Great post Kim.

Brian said...

No idea!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

I'm gonna take a stab at it and say...

Santana?

Liss said...

I think it's Sublime!

Liss said...

Oops I forgot to add another one (hope I'm right guessing Matt's!)..

Who sings, "I Am The Highway"...I've had that one in my head all day...

Brian said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
Brian said...

Hmmm...well, "I Am The Wind" is Stompin' Tom Connors..."Life Is A Highway," Tom Cochrane...so "I Am The Highway" is...ummm...

No idea!

Liss said...

"I Am The Highway" ...I'll give another hint, the band name starts with the letter A. It's a really great song too...I'm surprised you've never heard it!

Brian said...

Audioslave! D'oh. I knew that.

Next!

"Sheena Is A Punk Rocker"

...?

Liss said...

Hey! Ho! Let's Go!

The Ramones..good one!

How 'bout, "If I Had My Way"...

Madpajamma said...

Just so you all know, it WAS Sublime. Great guess Liss. I'm shocked I was able to stump you all... ha ha ha.

Good one Liss, it's Big Sugar.

Here's another hard one for you all taking it back old school, lets keep this game rolling.

"Shame Shame Shame"

Liss said...

OK..80's hairbands..I know those tunes! It's Ratt!

I'll try one a bit easier..you guys are taking too long to answer. LOL

Who sings, "Fast Car"???

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Oooh Oooh, I actually know this one! That would be Tracey Chapman.

So that's what that Big Sugar song's called. :D

"One"

Surely you won't need a hint for that one...

Liss said...

Nope, no hints needed..Metallica!

On to the next one then,

"Crazy Babies"

I don't think hints are needed for that one either..

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be Ozzy Osbourne. Hey, do I get two points for that?

"London Bridge"

Liss said...

Not sure, but I'm thinkin' Fergie?

Madpajamma said...

It's her... So Liss, you didn't put in a new one. I'm going to skip you then and jump right too it. You know, this would have been harder if we had to use the alphabet in order from A to Z.

"He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)"

Can anyone get this right off without using google?

Liss said...

Alice Cooper!

Liss said...

OK Matt..since you didn't answer, I'm gonna assume I'm right.

How about, "Rhiannon"??

Madpajamma said...

Ohh.. you were right!! Alice baby... who the F is alice.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

OMG, one minute he wants trivia, the next he wants the alphabet. Mebbe it's a good thing you're going back to work, lmao. It seems this one's difficult enough for us to handle. Thought it would be a nice change from the alphabet.

Yup Liss, since I mentioned we shouldn't google, I haven't. That's another oldie but goodie and one of my faves...
-Fleetwood Mac

"Wayne"

My Dyslexic Friends said...

BTW Matt, there is the band/artist alphabetical game that's still going on. Scroll down a few posts and it's in the comments for the, "The Big Switch Over..., " post.

There's games from, "It's a Festivus Miracle," 'til now. Where ya been hidin'?

Liss said...

One of Kim's faves...Chantal Kreviazuk, this one I know for sure!

"Can I Sit Next To You Girl?"...c'mon it's an easy one!

Madpajamma said...

IT's FREAKIN AC/DC Man!!!!! Great one Liss, I was going to use an AC/DC tune next.

Ok, here goes one... it's a great tune.

"Gypsy Road"

Liss said...

Cinderella...I forgot all about that tune! I used to have that tape back way back when..

Since we're on that theme,

"Mr. Brownstone"...love that tune!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be Ozzy Osbourne, good buddy.

"Round And Round"

Madpajamma said...

Ummm... no disrespect Kim, but Mr. Brownstone is by Guns N' Roses, not Ozzy. Round and Round is a good old Van Halen tune.

"Here I Go Again"

Liss said...

Round and Round is also a Ratt tune, not sure which one you meant Kim so I figured I'd say it anyway!

Here I Go Again..Whitesnake..great tune!

How about, "Fallen Angel"..another hair band tune..ha ha!

Madpajamma said...

Oh yeah... Poison. I can't forget that song or the video. Who was it that had the Poison VHS tape Liss, you or Dawn?

"From Out of Nowhere"

My Dyslexic Friends said...

No disrespect taken Matt. Goes to show exactly how tired I am this week... I know that song word for word too. Oh, and I actually did mean the Ratt song. I was wondering how long that would take.

The answer to Matt's is, "Faith No More," I do believe. There's a band I haven't thought of in awhile.

"Sex And Candy"

Madpajamma said...

Right on Kim, good answer. Ok, I remember this song name but couldn't for the life of me guess who sang it. I HAD to google this one and I'm still thinking, is this right?

Sex and Canday - Marcy Playground

"Johnny Ryall"

Brian said...

> "Johnny Ryall"

No idea!

Brian said...

By the way Matt, I can't let you correct Kim on what band performed "Mr. Brownstone" when you messed up on who performed "Round and Round." :)

As Melissa said, "Round and Round" is by Ratt (1983). The Van Halen song you mentioned is actually called "Runaround," track 4 from 'For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge' (1991).

Just thought I'd clarify. Now on this issue there canna be no debate!

Madpajamma said...

Ok Brian... no worries. I didn't even know Ratt had a song called Round and Round. I don't remember it anyway. As for the name, I was just signing it in my head and remembered those lyrics. My bad!!

You seriously don't know who sang Johnny Ryall? Any other takers?

Liss said...

I'm thinkin' "Johnny Ryall" is a Beastie Boys tune..it's a cover but I forget who originally sang it.

I've been out of the loop for a bit here..so to respond a bit..
-Dawn owned the Poison video tape Matt (I had Def Leppard).
-Kim, it's so wierd that you would choose "Sex and Candy"..I heard that song the other night and was saying I hadn't heard it in years..
-Brian..good job on the clarification! LOL

Now, on to the next tune ..

"Witchy Woman"...lol

Madpajamma said...

You were SO right Liss... those Beastie Boys kicked some butt back in the day. Now Witchy Woman is the Eagles, lets just hope it's not a title for some other band I have no clue about.

Here's an easy one...

"Fire Woman"

Liss said...

Yep..you got 'er right! To answer the "Fire Woman" one, it's the Cult (which was a really great concert!)

How 'bout , "Dear Abby"?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

"You are what you are and you ain't what you ain't." That would be a good ol', Miramichi favourite and that would be John Prine. Good one Liss and thanks for the clarification guys. This is what keeps it fun. Now, on to the next one...

"Runaway Train"

Madpajamma said...

Hey everyone,

Ok, this song I KNOW has two different artists. I'm going to name both because they are both well known. Elton John and Soul Asylum.

"The Joker"

Brian said...

> "The Joker"

Steve Miller Band, no?

Next...

"The Price"

Liss said...

Twisted Sister? I think they sang a song by that name..I'm not sure so I won't put one in yet!

Brian said...

Give the lady a prize!

Liss said...

Woo hoo!

OK..here's another one,

"Sundown"...by a great Canadian artist! :)

Brian said...

I love Edmund Fitzgerald's voice. :)

Next...

"If I Could Only Flag Her Down"

Liss said...

Ha ha..:)

I believe that's a really great ZZ Top tune!

"Life By The Drop" ???

Brian said...

SRV! Nice.

"Big Bad Moon"

...?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be some great guitar by a great player... Joe Satriani.

"Black And Blue"

Liss said...

Kim...it's gotta be Haywire! LOL

"Radar Love"

My Dyslexic Friends said...

"We've got a thing, that's called Radar Love," that would be Golden Earring. Did they even have another hit?

"Drops of Jupiter"

Brian said...

> "Drops of Jupiter"

No idea!

Brian said...

Btw, Golden Earring's other hit was "Twilight Zone." :)

Madpajamma said...

It's Drops of Jupiter a Train song? I'm not totally sure on this though.

"Black Betty"

Brian said...

Yep, Train. (Had to Google.)

> "Black Betty"

Original version by Ram Jam, kick-ass cover version by Spiderbait.

Next...

"Train In The Distance"

...?

Liss said...

A very sad song by Paul Simon...

"Possession" ???

Brian said...

Um...Sarah McLachlan?

Not sure, so I don't feel right about going ahead with another title...

Liss said...

You're rrrrriiiiggggghhhhtttt! Go ahead..

Darcy's says, "shouldn't you be TCB'n at this time?" LOL

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Um, does that mean, "Taking Care of Business," is the next song? If that's the case, it's BTO (otherwise known as Bachman Turner Overdrive) I do believe. I'm confused. Consider that an answer and I'll throw out the next one...

"Lips Of An Angel"

Hint- The song I was trying to figure out who sang the other night. Gotta download it Liss, it's a good one.

Liss said...

Nope..lol! I'll try to explain what happened though! Brian guessed "Possession" was by Sarah McLaughlan, but he wasn't sure so he didn't put in a song. I wrote back and said he was right and to go ahead and put a song in. The TCB comment was just Darcy making fun of Brian for not working and playing this game instead..not the actual song. Hope that makes sense! :)

Now..I have no clue about that song! Sorry ...I'll give someone else a try!

Brian said...

> "Lips Of An Angel"

A current hit by a band called Hinder that's on the radio every five minutes. When it goes away they'll be just another one-hit wonder flash-in-the-pan that irritated everybody for a short period of time in ought-six. Sorry, Kim. Not fond. :)

And Darcy's absolutely right, I'm gonna TC of some B right now. But just one more!

"Jackie O"

...?

Liss said...

Well, I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but the only "Jackie O" song I know is by John Cougar Mellencamp. It's a really great song! He also sings a great one called "Jackie Brown" which Aaron does a great rendition of on guitar. :)

Anyway, you can let me know if I'm wrong, and I'll just move right along...oh, BTW I haven't heard that song Kim (haven't been listening to the radio at work, only Christmas tunes..ha ha).

So, who sings, "Hasn't Hit Me Yet"?

Brian said...

Blue Rodeo. And yep, it was Mellencamp who did "Jackie O."

Next...

"Space Monkey"

...?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Yup, can honestly say I listen to the radio as little as possible. One hit wonder or not, I like it. As for the song, no idea.

Liss said...

John Prine?? I won't put one in yet...I think that's right though!

Brian said...

Correct!

Liss said...

Cool...

"Cocaine Cowgirl"...???

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Matt Mays And El Torpedo

"Wildside"

Madpajamma said...

Your right Brian, If I have to hear "Lips Of An Angel" one more time I'm going to shoot myself. Considering were in Ottawa and we have the option to listin to about 8 different stations, the odds of us hearing it over Liss and Kim is big. Maybe I should just tune to another station that doesn't play that crap.

Mmmm.... I know Motley Crue sings a song called Wild side. I also remember a song that had "Take a walk on the wild side" in the lyrics. I think it was a Skid Row tune. Hmmm... I'm blank other than that.

I'll move ahead anyway

"Under The Influence"

Brian said...

yeah Matt, the rock stations in Ottawa (The Bear, Chez 106) can be really repetitive. I don't know why they feel it's necessary to play "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "Rag Doll" by Aerosmith EVERY FUCKING DAY. It's like they have a stack of about 35 CDs in the booth and that's all they play from. But anyway. Sirius, here I come. :)

Were you thinking of "Walk On The Wild Side" by Lou Reed, maybe...? Motley Crue is correct, btw.

>"Under The Influence"

No idea!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

'Twas Motley Crue... had to throw some of that in there considering I'm an old Crue head from way back.

Radio stations are all automated nowadays anyways, hence the loop. They program a playlist and repeat it. DJs are pretty much a thing of the past since computers came along.

I know I love the MP3s and since the Harley killed my last one, my sister's giving me her old one since her boyfriend got her and Ipod for Christmas. Must be nice! Ah well, it's kinda the gift that keeps on giving, I guess.

Now, "Under the Influence," I do believe is a MGB (Matthew Good Band) song, right?

"Undercover Of The Night"

Liss said...

The Stones..

"Sweet Soul Sister" ??

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be, "The Cult," me lovely lady.

"R.P.M"

Brian said...

> "R.P.M"

Arrgh... it's right on the tip of my brain, but I can't reach it...

Liss said...

Nope...that one doesn't ring a bell!

Madpajamma said...

Just so you all know, Under the Influence has still not be answered. Feel free to google it if you need too.

HINT
This band was a one hit wonder, this being the only song that got played. For awhile, you could get a CD in a case of beer with this song on it and the band name.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hmmm, Matthew Good Band was the only one I can think of. Google brought me to a band I've never heard of based out of Orlando.

"Punk Dub?"

My Dyslexic Friends said...

One thing about this full page thing is that it overlaps in places and doesn't look as neat or pretty. I'm seeing my picture over the, "collapse comments," hyperlink. It doesn't show much more anyways guys.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, since R.P.M doesn't seem to register (it's Sugar Ray, BTW) I'll throw out another one.

"Through The Never"

Liss said...

Through the Never...Metallica!

Next,

"Shake Your Booty"...ha ha!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hahahahaha... it's Darcy's theme song. Either that or that Beyonce song!

That would be, "KC and the Sunshine Band," for one point Alex.

"Flesh For Fantasy"

Dang, that would have been a good one for the alphabetical song game.

Liss said...

Ah..Billy Idol, haven't heard that tune in awhile! That song reminds me of the early days of MuchMusic..

Next,

"Just One Night"...I heard this on the radio today and laughed, I hadn't heard it in years! It's an old 80's tune..

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Is that that song that goes like, "Give me just one night, una noches," or something like that? By one of those boy bands. Hmmmm, was it...

"98 degress?"

Liss said...

Nope...It's an 80's hard rock band, they are Canadian...they had a few songs but not many! Keep tryin'...here's some of the lyrics..

Hold on to love
Just one night
Don't try to fight about it
Take me I'm yours
For just one night
Don't be alone
And think of what
We could have had,
You'll wonder why
You ever let this moment pass
You can't deny
We see it in each other's eyes

Actually that's a lot of lyrics..ha ha!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Phew, good job Coll. I was hoping someone else would take it as I had no idea and have been racking my brain for days. I needed the tune. :D

Um, you won't be seeing me tomorrow but miss you too Coll. Merry Christmas.

Your turn to put out a song too Coll.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, since Coll doesn't seem to be putting out a song, I'll take 'er away...

"Black Velveteen"

Liss said...

I have no clue! Sorry Kim!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, how's about a hint. He's a really hot guy who's been around for awhile. Full of piercings and tattoos with a really nice ass, which we got to see the side profile of in one of his videos. He also used to have dreads, cut them all off and is still hot.

Oh, did I mention I think he's hot? Heehee! :D

Oh, and he has a year round tan. ;)

Liss said...

OK..me thinks Kim has a crush..ha ha! The only person I can think of is Lenny Kravitz, but I'm not sure if I'm right because I can honestly say I've never heard that song. Let me know if I'm close...:)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That's it Liss, good job! Sorry, forgot I left a hint on here.

It's a good one. I like it anyways! Some tend to see my music tastes as somewhat eclectic. Particularly when you have friends that say (back in the day) that I was the only one that listened to the B side of tapes. But I'm not going to point any fingers.

Take 'er away Liss...

Liss said...

OK..here's another one!

"Sultans of Swing"

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be Dire Straits, I do believe.

"Still Got This Thing"

Liss said...

Dire Straits it was..man I dig that tune! And my first guess with yours is Alannah Myles? I think that must be right, now I have that song going through my head..ha ha!

So, I'll move on with another one!

"Waiting For Tonight"

P.S...I was thinkin' of another "game idea"..what if we had one where you have to type in some song lyrics and then everyone has to guess the song? I think that'd be fun too!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Heehee, if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's now stuck in my head and I know she has one too (and I love it) although there might be others. Is this the one you're thinking of...

"Jennifer Lopez"

Now I don't feel so bad about Ashlee Simpson's song in the song game. :D

That is a good idea for a game Liss. I'll post it in the games thread so I'll remember it as I'm gonna get the word association game going in the next post. I don't want to forget it!

Liss said...

Nope, it's not Jennifer Lopez...ha ha! Although she does have a song called that..

I was thinkin' more along my taste in music..ha ha! Keep tryin'!!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, I know I'm going to kick my butt when I figure it out as I know there's others but I've now got that friggin' J-Lo song in my head and it won't leave.

Me thinks I'm gonna need a hint. Gotta have a shower so I'll be gone for a bit.

Liss said...

Hmmm...it's pretty hard to give a hint without it being too easy. He has a video that parodies "Alice in Wonderland"..it's not for this song though..

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Aaahhh, ok. That would have to be Tom Petty then, me thinks?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, I'm going to the hockey game and we're hitting the downtown nightspots, hopefully with Coyote Ugly in there. This one'll definately have to be on hold for a bit.

Have a wunnerful evenin'!

Liss said...

Yep it was Tom Petty...give 'er!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Ok, this one might be a little tougher. We know the band but not many seem to know the song. Must have been on the, "B side."

"Undercover of the Night"

Liss said...

You put this one in before and I answered, "The Stones"..I guess I wasn't right that time! LOL

I thought for sure they had a song called that, I remember the video used to freak me out when I was a kid!

So, if it's not that...guess I'll need a hint! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Did I really put it in her before? Man, I'm losing it and too lazy to begin scrolling through all this. You got 'er right the first time then (if that was your answer back then) and you get 'er right this time. I'm such a numbskull.

I think that deserves three points, hahahahahaaa!

Go for it Liss.

Liss said...

Ha ha...that's alright Kim..glad I had it right! I was starting to think I was losing my mind there for a minute!

Here's another one,

"Tricky"...heard this on Sirius the other night and just about died laughing. I totally forgot this song existed! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hmmm, that's not the one by Run DMC is it? And that's not the original, someone else did it too, I do believe.

Liss said...

Well..the one I'm talking about is the Run DMC version, but there probably is others! So..you're turn now! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Let's see if anybody remembers how much I loved this song...

"Lift Your Head Up High and Blow Your Brains Out"

Liss said...

Yep, I remember that song! I can't think of the band's name though! Didn't they also sing a song about the discovery channel or something? It'll come to me...

Liss said...

Wait...I think it's the Bloodhound Gang. I hope I'm right! I'm gonna continue on anyway...

"F.I.N.E" ???

Liss said...

"Feel Like A Number"...that one really doesn't ring a bell! Maybe somebody else knows..

Liss said...

You could give a hint though... :)

Brian said...

Um...

Band is from Detroit. Song is from the album "Stranger In Town."

Liss said...

Ahh..I do recognize the album, I think! Is it Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band?

Brian said...

Right you are!

Liss said...

Whew! That was a tough one!

What about,

"Everlong"????

Brian said...

> "Everlong"

No idea!

Liss said...

Man..this is tough! I think I'll start putting hints in for every song, it'll be easier that way! :)

This band's lead singer used to be a member of Nirvana. That should do it!

Brian said...

Foo Fighters! (Grohl.)

Next...

"Midnite Maniac"

...?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Oh boy Brian, you're pulling out an oldie there. That would be Krokus, my good man. Liss, you were right on The Bloodhound Gang answer too, good job.

"Macy's Day Parade"

Brian said...

> "Macy's Day Parade"

No idea!

Liss said...

No idea on that one either! Hints please! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hmmm, it's a band know for being bad boys and running around with nothing on but guitars and peeing on audiences.

Brian said...

The Righteous Brothers?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Nope, a little more mainstream Top 40. They're one of my favourites, you can't help but bop along to their catchy songs.

Brian said...

I was kidding. :)

Taking a guess here...Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Liss said...

I think you're right Brian..that was my guess too! You're turn! :)

Brian said...

I just did the Google thing to check, and it's not RHCP. Somebody else will have to take a stab at this one!

Liss said...

Damn! I thought it was them for sure. The only other bands I can think of that fit that description are Blink 182 and Greenday. I really don't know though..I don't think I've ever heard that song before! C'mon KIM! Who's waitin' on who now? :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Once again, sorry for taking so long. Rules update, if anyone takes too long, carry on without them

Good job again guys. I knew RHCP would be brought up but Liss was 1/2 right with Greenday. Does that mean she gets 1/2 a point?

Take 'er away girl...

Liss said...

I don't think I deserve any points, that was a total stab in the dark. :)

I'll move it along anyway...

"Kashmir" ????

Brian said...

When I was a little girl in Panama, a rich American came to our town and he was wearing the softest, most beautiful sweater. I said to him, "What do you call this most beautiful fabric?" And he said "They call it...kashmir." I repeated the words, "Kashmir... kashmir." I asked if I could have it, and he said, "No. Get away from me." Then he started walk away. But I grabbed onto his leg screaming for him to give me the sweater! Then he dragged me through the street, and he kicked at me with the other foot and he threw some change at me! But I didn't want the change, Georgie. I wanted the kashmir.

It's Led Zeppelin, btw :)

Next!

"Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive"

...?

Liss said...

Heh heh...couldn't resist that one could ya? :)

"Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive"...don't recognize it! I think a hint is needed...

Brian said...

An '80's band from Australia...

Liss said...

Heh heh.. so they come from a land down under huh? "Who Can It Be Now..?"...Men at Work! I'm just guessing, so I won't put another one in yet! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

I just googled it Liss to verify, yup it is. Carry on and take 'er away...

Liss said...

OK..I'll take your word for it then!

"Jump On It"...ha ha! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

OMG, if I hear that friggin' song one more time...! hahahaha! That would be by the man that was a previous record holder of, "One hit wonder," Sir Mix a lot. I wonder if he'll have any other hits.

"La Isla Bonita" heehee

Liss said...

heh heh...that would be Madonna! :)

"Once Bitten Twice Shy" ??

Brian said...

Great White! (Remember "Wasted Rock Ranger"? Ah, memories.)

Next...

"Too Much Time On My Hands"

...?

Liss said...

Yep! I remember...even know the whole song by heart (and I'm sure everyone else does too)..ha ha!

I think that's a Styx song, although you might be thinking of something else. I had that record when I was about 7 or 8 years old! :)

I'll wait though..in case I'm wrong!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Oh yeah, I remember that song, "Styx," it is.

Take 'er to the next level Liss.

Liss said...

OK..

"The Logical Song"...????

Brian said...

Supertramp!

Next...

"One Thing Leads To Another"

(certainly applies here, doesn't it?)

Liss said...

I'd have to agree! :)

Now there's a song I haven't heard in ages...it's by The Fixx! I have it going through my head now..ha ha!

"More Than a Feeling" ??

Brian said...

Boston!

Next...

"Masters Of War"

...?

Liss said...

Bob Dylan!

"Love Song" ??

Brian said...

Tesla!

"Seasons In The Sun"

...?

Liss said...

Holy crap..now that's a CFAN classic! Ha ha! It was sung by "Terry Jacks"...did he ever put out anything else?

How 'bout,

"Limelight" ??

My Dyslexic Friends said...

That would be, "Rush." How about...

"Escape"

Brian said...

>"Escape"

Journey. No, wait. Alice Cooper. No, wait. Dokken. No, wait. Jeff Beck. No, wait. Metallica. No, wait. Enrique Iglesias. Yes! Enrique Iglesias. That's the one.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hahahahahaha, too funny. Ya got the one I was thinking of on your 5th guess. Take 'er away. :D

Brian said...

Actually my answer was Iglesias, but I'll take a partial credit to keep the game rolling. :)

Now, then!

"Highway Star"

...?

Liss said...

Not sure! Although it does sound familiar...

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Nope, can't say as I can place it either.

Brian said...

Hint -- One of their other hits is "Woman From Tokyo."

Liss said...

Is it Deep Purple? I'll wait to see if I'm right...

Brian said...

Deep Purple it is...

Liss said...

Cool!

"Talk" ???

Brian said...

Little help here!

Liss said...

OK...you might not know this one, it's definately not your type of music! :) But, I'm sure you've heard it on the radio because it's been played to death! I'll put some lyrics here..

"So you don't know where you're going, and you wanna talk
And you feel like you're going where you've been before
You tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored
Nothing's really making any sense at all
Let's talk, let's talk..."

Hope that helps! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Oooh, I know this one, it's, "Coldplay," I do believe.

Ok, this one's about to be on the comment relocation program. Look for it in the new post and my next hint'll be there.
