It's a Festivus Miracle...

Well, it's now 12:34am., Dec.1st as I type this so it's beginning to feel like Christmas. My profile has migrated to the bottom of the page and doesn't seem to want to come back. We're supposed to be getting snow tomorrow and if the temperature drops like it's supposed to, this rainy drizzle will be flurries. Most of you aren't going to like what I have to say next... Yaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and Yippppeeeeeeeeeeee!

I paid a visit to the Skidd household tonight and while raving, we somehow got on the topic of the Christmas song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas." You never know where our conversations are going to go or where they'll end up. Somehow we got on to the Rickard's beer and the free glass (it really doesn't take much to amuse us, does it?) and a song began. I kept Liss up way past her bedtime but we figured 'er out and for your perusal, the grand unveiling, first time in the world, never before seen (or heard), new and improved, "Twelve Days of Christmas."

Feel free to sing along, you know you know how it goes...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Twelve Days of Festivus

*just in case you forget... a start*

On the First Day of Festivus My True Love Gave to Me...

A Free Glass With the Case
(where it all began)
Two Rum and Nog (don't forget to change to the second day)
Three Shots of Berries (the third day, a blue raspberry cocktail mix)
Four Shots Of Vodka (three + four + mountain dew = good drink mix)
Five Par - a - lyzers (oh yeah, fifth day... distracted by my favourite drink)
Six Pack of Alpine (if you don't get it by now, you never will)
Seven Days a Week (dum-de-dum-de-dum-dum)
Eight Pack of Bud Light (thank goodness for different amounts in beer)
Nine More Sips of Soju (I'll personally be passing on that one)
Ten More Grievance Airings (didn't think we'd forget Festivus, did you?)
Eleven Feats of Strength (log rolling anyone?)
Twelve Pack of Rickard's (we've now come full circle)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I said, easily amused. Speaking of which, check out the comments. We were having so much fun with bananas, I thought a game might be fun and help give you guys something to do while you're at work. ;)

This should be fun. We butchered the bananas so why not really have some fun with an actual online game. This one we'll call, "Alpabetical Food."

The rules, pretty simple... I'll start with the letter, "A," and make a food word that starts with that letter. The next person does the letter, "B," the next, "C," and so on.

If ya can't follow those rules... ya shouldn't be playing. ;)

A = Artichoke (betcha thought I'd say apple, eh?)

Have fun!

Liss said...

Hey Kim! Why did I know that when I woke up this song would be posted here? Hee hee...me thinks we have way too much time on our hands!

As for the game,,I'm in! (of course).

B = Bananas!!! (I had to do it!) :)

Madpajamma said...

Hey there,

Ok... now that's a song to remember. What's all this talk of Rickard's I keep hearing about? Liss, are you hooked on that stuff ever since the Ottawa trip?

I wanna play tooooo....

C = Cannoli ("Ravioli, holy Cannoli" as Chris Farley would say)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Of course you had to Liss, I was hoping you'd get to it first. Matt, you're right she's hooked. Even moreso now that you get a free glass with the case. She should have a straight dozen by the time you get home.

D = doughnut

BTW, it can have multiple words as well. Hey, if the council can make up the rules as they go along, so can I. :D

Liss said...

Matt, I was hooked well before Ottawa (it's all Scott's fault..heh heh). So, on with the game then...

E = eggs

Can't think of any multiple words Kim, sorry! :)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Heehee...

f = froot loops

Liss said...

Hey Coll! Don't feel left out...of course you can play! LOL

Rickard's is very tasty beer..you should try it sometime. Right now you can get a free glass when you buy a case.

H = "hutdug"..in Gammie's language or hotdog for the rest of the world...hee hee!

Madpajamma said...

Ok, I see I missed a few now. So I need to name something with an I.

I = Ice Cream

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Still here... glad ya joined us Coll. I'm on a mission and that's to try to find a new blog host and back up my blog before the switch to beta. This is just getting ridiculous... none of us can upload pictures so what's the point? It seems there's lots of people having trouble with the beta one too... losing already published stuff and I certainly don't feel like attempting to re-write all this babble. I'll keep ya's posted on what I come up with.

K = Kebabs (as in the shishy kind)

Liss said...

Hey Coll..Christmas night it is! I just happen to have a bottle of spiced rum that I inherited, so we just need the egg nog! I can't wait, I miss you guys too!

Kim, good luck with the blog experiment, let me know how you make out with it!

So we're on to the letter L, gosh almost half of the alphabet already. Are we geeks or what? Hee hee..

L = lollipops

My Dyslexic Friends said...

I knew we'd have fun with it. All I can say about the spiced rum is they're yummy, just don't forget to stir them really well. Remember Brian's curdled drink?

Wish I could be here for it.

M = marmalade

PS- got it all backed up on word so let the beta switch begin. Might want to hold off on comments for a bit as I have no idea what's going to take place.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Some of us do have something better to do... have you not noticed the new blog layout here? LMAO Coll! If not, clear your cookies and temp. internet folders and you'll see it.

At least the rum will help ease the pain of my absence.

Well, it appears that all's functioning now, let the games continue.

O = olives

BTW, when we run out of letters, we can start all over... poor Brian's missing all the fun. I'm gonna try another entry here before too long to see if beta'll let me upload pics so we can get another game going there too.

Our pictures seem to have disappeared in here too even though I have them enabled. Go figure. Brian's (only other on beta) is showing the dreaded red x so I'm guessing it's a blogger issue.

Liss said...

Ah Coll..festivus will not only be interesting, it'll be a blast! And Kim, we will miss you, but we'll have a grog for ya!

The blog is lookin' good Kim! I love the Canadian "leaf and tree" flag at the top, good addition! Once you get all the bugs sorted out, I think I'll go ahead and switch over too!

So I see you've done "O"...with my idea too! Ha ha! Guess I'll go with the next best thing to olives for the letter P...Pickles! But only dill pickle of course..

So, c'mon Matty...see if you can try the next one! A challenging letter..ha ha!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Sorry Matt, I'll take it since I'm here tinkering with the layout anyways and save ya the brainstormin'. ;)

Q = quohogs

My Dyslexic Friends said...

BTW Matt, where's the next installment of your trip?

My Dyslexic Friends said...

You so smart Cole (to go with the Gammie pronunciation of hutdug) and glad you like the new layout. Thought you missed it and got mixed up in the shuffle. I'm gonna get another game going in my next post but we can still play this one too... I know I will be. ;)

S = slurpees (or slushies, whichever you prefer)

Next...?

Liss said...

OK...you guys are getting way too fast at this! It's hard to keep up with you all..lol!

T is for Tacos! Yummy!

On to the next game..heh heh!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Hmmm, I could come up with one for Q but U's tricky?

U = Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Took a google search and the three of us to come up with that one... phew!

My Dyslexic Friends said...

W = watermelon

Good luck for the next one... heehee!

Madpajamma said...

Ok, well this is cheezy but here goes... Xigua. Never heard of it? It's a fruit.

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Geez Matt, we were starting to worry that we might have to send out the search party for ya. Glad you're present and accounted for. Good job on digging that letter up. No comment on the new layout? Beta mode yet. :D

Y = yams

Liss said...

Just noticed this..I put in #60..wonder where the cut-off will be? "I feel so alive Mr. Kramer.."..ha ha

Brian said...

Sorry to kill the suspense, but according to the 'Comments FAQ' in Blogger Help, there is no limit to the number of comments that can be added to a post:

http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=42058&query=comments&topic=&type=#long

So, it looks like this is never going to end! Btw, I'm trailing in points, gotta catch up.

G = Green Giant Green Bean Casserole! (3-pointer!)

Brian said...

L = Lemon Meringue Pie (again with the pies...)

Brian said...

Ah, Krispy Kreme. "The donut loaded with pure crack."

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Oooh, oooh, I have a pie one. I forgot about the theme after the elephant pie incident.

M = moon pies

Cool to think that Krispy Kreme's actually breaking in north of the border. Tim Horton's doesn't have anything on their donuts. Man, when that, "Hot," sign comes on, they're lined up for miles.

Liss said...

Good one! I've been avoiding the "X"..but I guess someone's gotta do it right? This one is kinda cheatin' but I can't think of anything else..sorry guys! :)

X = X'tra hot and spicy wings

lame or what? hee hee

Oh, I almost forgot, Kim you mentioned about the Melissa thing..it won't let me post the other way anymore.

Liss said...

OK..I'm just gonna test to see if this works (I finally switched to beta)..that's probably why it wouldn't work before.

Brian said...

Success!

I however, am stuck for a 'Y' entry, so...

Y = Young duck

C = Corn on the Cob

Madpajamma said...

Ok, Liss screwed it up... this game is over. It's official, I'm waiting for the next one with movies in it.

S = Sloppy Joes

Speaking of Sloppy Joes here's a little something for you all.....

Woke up in the morning
Put on my new plastic glove
Served some reheated salisbury steak
With a little slice of love
Got no clue what the chicken pot pie is made of
Just know everything's doing fine
Down here in Lunchlady Land

Well I wear this net on my head
'Cause my red hair is fallin' out
I wear these brown orthopedic shoes
'Cause I got a bad case of the gout
I know you want seconds on the corndogs
But there's no reason to shout
Everybody gets enough food
Down here in Lunchlady Land

Well yesterday's meatloaf is today's sloppy joes
And my breath reeks of tuna
And there's lots of black hairs coming out of my nose
In Lunchlady Land your dreams come true
Clouds made of carrots and peas
Mountains built of shepherds pie
And rivers made of macaroni and cheese
But don't forget to return your trays
And try to ignore my gum disease
No student can escape the magic of Lunchlady Land

Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Navy beans, navy beans, navy beans
Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Navy beans, navy beans
Meatloaf sandwich
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe

Well I dreamt one morning
That I woke up to see
All the pepperoni pizza
Was a-looking at me
It screamed, why do you burn me
And serve me up cold
I said I got the spatula
Just do what you're told
Then the liver & onions
Started joining the fight
And the chocolate pudding
Pushed me with all its might
And the chop suey slapped me
And it kicked me in the head
It's called revenge Lunchlady
Said the garlic bread
I said what did I do
To make you all so mad
They said you got flabby arms
And your breath is bad
Then the green beans said
You better run and hide
But then my friend sloppy joe came
And joined my side
He said if it wasn't for the Lunchlady
The kids wouldn't eatcha
You should be shakin' her hand
And sayin' please to meet ya
She gives you a purpose
And she gives you a goal
You should be kissin' her feet
And kissin' her mole
Now all the angry foods
Just leave me alone
And we all live together
In a happy home

Thanks to
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe

[Spoken]
Well me & sloppy joe got married
We got six kids and we're doing' just fine
Down in Lunchlady Land

Dip dip dip

T = Tortilla chips

Liss said...

Nice rendition of "Lunch Lady Land"..hee hee!

Brian, you could have said "Tostitos Tortilla Chips"...oh well! :)

U = Unsalted Peanuts...the letter 'U' sucks!

Madpajamma said...

Not V again...

V = V8 Vegetable Juice

Brian said...

Tostitos! D'oh!

V8 juice was used in Round 3, Matt. Scorekeep! You know what to do...

W = Wagon Wheels :)

Liss said...

Yep.."Loud Buzzer Sound"..sorry Matty! :)

I've got this damn letter X again, this is gonna suck!

X = Xtreme Bold BBQ Doritos

Madpajamma said...

Ok... My bad. But, I did say Vegetable afterward... I tried to be somewhat original. Unlike Melissa here who spells Extreme with an X. That's a definate no no!!! Check the bag lady you just did us WAY wrong. I think this game just got too long.

A = Artichoke

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Heehee... yet he throws out another one for the game that's too long. But it's the slash pusher Matt! I think what Liss is going for is actually a name brand... correct Liss?

B = baked baloney

Madpajamma said...

My point exactly. If she was trying to stick with the brand name, she has to spell it right. No disrespect though! And the name brand is spelled eXtreme Bold BBQ Doritos... not Xtreme Bold BBQ Doritos. I only know this because we have a bag here right now. Check this link if you don't believe me.

http://www.taquitos.net/snacks.php?snack_code=12

So in all fairness... "Loud Buzzer Sound" Liss... ha ha ha.

And your right Kim, this game is so long I'm not even going to through another one out there.

Brian said...

C = Coca-Cola

Liss said...

OK I'm gonna sound like Mitch here but "HOLY!"...do we have some hard feelings Matt? :) Sorry about the "X"...I didn't realize it would upset you so much..and what the heck happened to Y and Z..are we just gonna drop the last 3 letters from now on?

Moving on..

D = Diet Dr. Pepper

Brian said...

Btw, 'artichoke' was the first entry used in the game. And hey, we did skip Y and Z, didn't notice that! So, since they're still available...

Y = Yogurt
Z = Zinfandel

E = Eggplant

Heh heh...

Liss said...

Ha Ha! Good one!

Matt, if you do decide to put another one in..you're gonna have to scroll up first! :) Keeping score is going to become quite the chore for this game..

F = Frankfurters

Brian said...

G = Golden Grahams

My Dyslexic Friends said...

You guys are too much. Do we need a referee in here? :D

H = Hershey's Heath Bars

I = Icicles (hey..I've eaten them!)

My Dyslexic Friends said...

LMAO, yeah, me too Liss. Oh, and I suppose if you and Matt get it out of your systems now, we don't have to worry about an out and out brawl once he gets home. :D

J = jelly

Hee hee...

Hey folks,

yeah, I was messing around... no worries. And I used Artichoke on purpose because it WAS the first one... ha ha ha. Good eye pointing it out Brian. Ok, I'm officially done with this one people, I'll stick to the other games.

Yep, this one's getting absurdly long...

L = Leeks

Liss said...

I vote we end this one after the letter Z...

M = Meatpie

I agree! Now that we know that comments are limitless, we should set a sensible number of rounds for each game (new ones and ones in progress). Then we count up the scores at the end to see who won.

Just my $0.02.

N = Nectarine

Liss said...

Yeah, I agree, good plan..good $0.02! :)

So, what should we set the round limit at?

O = Orange Juice (I know that orange was said..but hey, I'm desperate here!)

Were we getting tired Kim? Not just one but two salad entries..ha ha!

T = Turkey

There's that evil letter again.

U = upside down cake

Yup, the publish button didn't seem to be working last night. Apparently it worked too well. :D

V = Vegetable soup

W = water chestnuts

Alright, i'm only helping so you can end this game. I'd suggest two rounds per game max.

X = xanthan gum

Brian said...

Yep, it's time to put this crippled dog out of its misery. [loads shotgun]

Number of rounds should depend on the game, I think. If Kim ever starts "movie trivia" like we all wish she would, we should let that one go a little longer than 2. :)

Y = Yankee bean

My Dyslexic Friends said...

And where pray tell am I supposed to come up with the questions for movie trivia? I'm open to suggestions as my brain's done trying to think up games. Hmm, I just might start a post regarding such a thing.

Liss said...

Is someone gonna finish this one off...I can't think of anything that starts with Z...!!

The movie trivia one sounds like fun, but I have no suggestions. Lots of help eh? lol

My Dyslexic Friends said...

Me neither, I'm not a movie buff so that's why I'm leaving it up to the ones that seem to have one in mind. It's going to be a tough one to do.

Z = zombie bar

Ya know, it's almost sad to lay this one to rest. :)

Brian said...

So, who won? :)

Liss said...

OK guys...it's all over but the cryin'! I've tallied the results and we have a WINNER!

da da da da....KIM!

Here's the final scores:

Kim - 63 points
Liss - 58 points
Brian - 44 points
Matt - 16 points
Colleen - 12 points
Darcy - 5 points

I should say that I didn't include the screwed up ones, and that since the last time I added them up, Brian actually had the highest (a whopping 23 points).

This is kinda sad..but it's time to move on to bigger and better games! :)
